Tragic

  1. With more dead than wounded, he had to be taking close headshots, not spraying. If three or four students or teachers were carrying in the first classroom, the carnage would have stopped much sooner. Surprise motherfucker! bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang bang.

  2. BS indeed.  Go here to read something else that is BS http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/04/va_tech_official_praised_defea.php
there was proposal that would have allowed students with permits to carry guns on campus, it was not only defeated VA Tech officials praised the defeat.  In 2002, my son was one of two students who apprehended another student who had just killed 3 and wounded two while on a rampage at Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, VA.  one of the victims died in my sons arms.  My son, a former law official had a concealed carry permit.  when he heard the shots, he grabbed his flak jacket and 9MM out of his car and apprehended the shooted.  the fact that he did not have to use his weapon was used as an argument to ban guns on that campus.  see the article on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_School_of_Law_shooting
and read the analysis.  The idiots completely miss the point that my son would have been much more cautious had he not be armed and there is no telling how many more the guy would have shot.  Anyway, Logic is not the strong suit of gun control nuts.

  3. I can fit at least a dozen 7 round 1911 magazines in a good size jacket pocket. Push, slap, click; it only takes a second to drop the old one, pop in a new one, and rack the slide. Easy to shoot 100 shots in a minute. And with a bit of practice, I can get off at least 20 rounds a minute from my single shot rifle. So the “hi-cap” thing is just bullshit. Even a revolver can be reloaded in a couple seconds.

This is an awful thing to happen. Some actual armed professional campus security might have helped a bit too, instead of the usual donut scarfing vespa riding renta-badges. If the teachers were armed, as in Israel, this rampage would have stopped at the first classroom, at most the second one.

  4. Just read in America Alone how New Hampshire has a high rate of gun ownership and a low crime rate. Also just read that Britain, is it, has a 400% increase in crime since their gun ban went into affect. Doesn’t Australia have a similar stat?

It is the criminals who violate so many laws using guns - and then plea bargin down to inane misdomeaners and walk in 3 to 6 months, laughing all the way to the next gun deal (or trade) and then just do it again.

Meanwhile those who would probably never use their guns (ME) are on the edge of being criminalized just for possessing one and fearing the decision to make if the gun gustapo comes for it.

And the gang bangers, liars, and thieves will still have their guns and walla the US will be intimidated by the punks, thugs and criminals who continue unabated to have, carry and use willy nilly guns - and still get set free again and again by bleeding heart liberal morons - to prey upon those of us who obey the laws. Because liberals love fear and NOT solving a damn thing - so that they can scam even more money in taxes and stay in control.

BTW, what ever happened to Webb’s aid - good golly, gee, gosh - bet my next paycheck it was dropped faster than my heart beats. I am hating the DNC more and more each and every day.

Dixie - my son was a MP at his Military College for 2 years - he was first on the scene at a shooting by an estranged husband - said ‘Mom, movies, tv and even the news does not do justice to what these weapons do to a human body. It was awful.’

The media blows crap (Imus, Anna Nichole, American Idol) out of proportion but the real damaging issues (both domestic and international) they toss about like it means nothing.

It is their fault in so many ways, but mostly in their trivalizing LIFE in America. This is the result.

  5. Had the pollyannas not been allowed to breed, had the students been able to defend themselves,… I pray for the dead and their families. But WE NEED to push the one very important point. Because the students COULD NOT STOP THE VIOLENCE BEING INFLICTED ON THEM, they died en masse’. Had they been able to stop the shooter(s), he/they couldn’t have kept on shooting. <10, <5? I do not wish to seem heartless or opportunistic. But this can not be allowed to be used to make even more hapless victims.

  6. The other part of the problem is that people aren’t willing to act on their own to protect other people.  Hell, if twenty people had rushed the gunner from different sides then he could have been taken down by someone.  Folks, no one is going to protect you and you’ve got to be willing to take action that would jeopardize your feelings of safety just to be safe.  Who among us has the gumption to rush into a burning house to rescue anyone?  Who is willing to rush a gunner with little more than their hands?  During the Korean War, the Chi-coms ran thousands up against us and often won just because of the crush of humanity.

Boy Scouts used to exemplify heroism.  Nowadays lost Boy Scouts go into hiding when they hear the rescuers calling out for them.  Total crap.  Our country is about 40 years behind the UK in social issues.  Want to see what we will look like in 2047?  Look at the UK today.  I weep more for what our country has degenerated into than for these few people.  Our country used to be an example for the rest of the world.  Afraid that it has lost sight of the founding fathers and their examples.

  7. I did my usual cruise around the VRWC blogosphere after work today ... lots of voices saying that if the students were armed this would not have happened, or would have been cut short. I thought about it, and I’m of the opinion that college students should not be armed at this point in time. We need to raise an entire generation of kids from the ground up with respect, responsibility, morals, and firearms training. As an Official Grumpy almost-Old Fart, I don’t think The Kids Today could handle it. Make the minimum age for national CCW 27, or 22 if you’ve done an honorably discharged 4 years in the military.

  8. Drew458, you missed my point at least.  It is illegal for anyone to carry a gun on VA Tech’s campus regardless of whether they have a CCW or not.  My son, because he had his gun on campus and was trained in its use was able to stop a shooter.  There are no doubt students on VA Techs campus who are or have been trained police officers and in the military.  they are prohibited from carrying their weapons on campus.  That is the point of the one article i referenced above, a student with a CCW was arrested and charged on the campus.  A legislator’s subsequent attempt to pass legislation to keep this from happening was allowed to die in committee.  VA Tech through their spokesman claimed this would make the campus safer.  there is no way of knowing whether todays events would have come out different had that same student still had his weapon on campus.  at least there would have been a chance.
I am a grumpy old man also (59), but there are plenty of kids today who are more than up to the task.  along with my son, his sister (in the KY National Guard) and a son-in-law are quite capable of handling themselves.

OK, I hate to be a spelling Nazi but it is Voila!

    From Dictionary.com…

    voi·là (vwä-lä’) Pronunciation Key
interj.  Used to call attention to or express satisfaction with a thing shown or accomplished: Mix the ingredients, chill, and—voilà!—a light, tasty dessert.

But other than that, Yeah, what she said…

  10. The shooter was Asian. One half step from Paki/Persian/Arabo pork-conceived, dog-spawn, camel-fornicator.

How long until we hear he was saying “Allah Ahbar” when he was killing?

I will be absolutely orgasmic if this is a case of SJS (Sudden Jihad Syndrome).

Lets see how many of these libocollegeivorytowerf***ingidiots still think that its a f***ing “religion of peace” then.

  13. Again, sheep are slaughtered.  We are not allowed to provide for own defense.

What a shame that at least one of the victims was not carrying and couldn’t have ended the rampage on site.

Murderous trolls know exactly where to go to massacre their victims.

An armed society is a polite society.

  15. Couldn’t agree more, Maj. Mike.  I say the safest society is one where everyone is armed (except convicted felons and the dangerously insane).  And I think that colleges oughta start GIVING fully automatic weapons to it’s security forces, professors, and RA’s.  Anyone who tries something like this will be filled so full of lead that you could use his corpse for a pencil.

Don’t recall any such outrages at shooting ranges and NRA conventions.
