Is anyone ready to defend themselves yet?
How simply awful that we live in such End Times that a church has to have armed security guards. But it turns out to be a good thing after all.
I want to find out the backstory on this latest loon.
The VA statute 18.2-283 reminds me of that old stump song ...
“Leave your chewin gum, tobaccy, and your razors at the door
And we’ll tell you bible stories like you’ve never heard before!”
Of course, we will see a continual ad nauseum debate on gun laws and other such idiotic issues - and no one will ever address the core issue - why a person feels it ‘right’ to kill innocent bystanders because of a refusal of a service? And does the training center allow just anyone to ‘spend the night’? The article sounded like it was a religious training center, not a open door mission. And why the mega church? Of course our lousy, agenda driven msm won’t ever truly investigate into real cause and effect. I would lay money on this guy was a recidivist (probably drug related) criminal or mentally ill (which makes one wonder, how he got the gun). . .
Either way, our msm won’t deal with why we now have a society full of people who are no longer committing suicide at Christmas time (the most common time of the year for suicide) - but taking innocent people with them as they commit ‘suicide by cop’. . .There are some very deep and disturbing issues which really need to be addressed - but I won’t hold my breath on our msm or communities really doing any of the hard work.
Copycats are a definite possiblity hence, sufficient reason.
Business is fine. The food? I don’t know. I don’t eat Mexican food if I can avoid it. I’ve noticed they’ve got lots of customers, at least as many if not more than Kathy had there. Of course, there might me off menu items! :-D
I’m off the rest of the year. Going to do some late muzzleloading hunting. Saw five deer in Mom’s yard last night.
Over at michellmalkin.com they’re saying the guy was 24 year old Matthew Murray, who had been expelled from this training school 3 years ago and had been sending them hate mail. Furthermore, hotair links to this article which notes:
SWAT officers searching the New Life campus found several suspicious devices. Myers said they were conducting a second search Sunday evening.
Police are not releasing any information about what kind of weapon was used in the attack. 9NEWS has learned the gunman was dressed with a tactical helmet and body armor.
OMG. “Suspicious devices” sounds like pipebombs or similar to me. And body armor?? WTF??
So, did you know this guy a few years back Mr. C?
The “suspicious devices” were smoke grenades. Looks like he set a couple off for distraction. One good thing, no expensive trial ahead.
This just gets stranger and stranger. TV news this morning says the kid used to hear voices in his head and posted his threats several times to an anti-pentecostal web forum. (I may have the anti-pentecostal part wrong, but they did say it was a forum for ex members of the faith. Only had half a cuppa coffee in me at the time)
CNN has an article up that gives a bit more info, though it seems to imply he was given the boot because he played a couple “scary” rock songs at a party. (ya didn’t think CNN could run this kind of story and not get in a jab at the fundamentalists didja?)
(gotta use ‘spray’. Its only a miracle they didn’t add ‘from the hip’)Matthew Murray was kicked out of a missionary training program five years ago for strange behavior, and talked about hearing voices, according to a man who served at the center with him.
He said Murray was told in December 2002 he would not be allowed to join a mission trip to Bosnia. That was five days after Murray performed a pair of dark rock songs at a concert at the mission that made fellow workers “pretty scared,” according to Werner.
...
Police said Murray, 24, of Englewood, Colorado, shot and killed two people at the Youth With A Mission center and wounded two others early Sunday.
...
At New Life Church, some 80 miles away, Murray sprayed fire from an assault rifle and threw smoke bombs in at least two locations where large numbers of congregants were likely to be, police said.
Saw the assclown-rep from Brady Org on TV too, talking out of both sides of his mouth - the woman who shot this guy is a hero, its good she was armed, but she’s ‘fully trained’ bodyguard and former police officer, and Murray used an assault rifle that is military only and no civilian ‘needs’. So I guess now they’re only against Bad Guns, until the next idiot shoots up a school with a revolver.
Short and sweet. Aye, I’m with you. The “good and reasonable purpose” has been defined all over the airwaves.
I usually conceal carry (with a permit) wherever I go. This includes going to church.
I hope never to have to draw on, let alone shoot, another human being. But I also refuse to let myself or others be threatened with bodily harm and not trying to do something about it.
I have a shooting range here in my backyard and I practice being familiar with my gun.
So if someone came into my church and was just trying to hold up people for money without a real threat of shooting someone, I would keep my gun in its place. But if a life was at stake, I for sure would try to subdue the threat (if I could do it without endangering anyone else).
Even in Jesus day the Bible says Peter carried a sword (he cut off the high priest’s servants ear in the Garden).
