I don’t know if there are any Hoosier readers of your blog, but from what I was told, Indiana remained on EST because of their cows.
OTOH, Arizona, which also does not participate in DST, has a very good reason not to: we don’t want 110-plus degree temps at 8:00 PM at night at the height of summer!
