  2. "Hear ye, hear ye!

Our Sovereign Lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the act made in the first year of King George, for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies. God Save the King!”

  3. What the leftards have failed to grasp is that Britain is broke. In 2009 interest repayments on the national debt were £30 billion. To put this in perspective that is the same as the cost of policing the country and as much as we spend on social services. So that money has been essentially pissed away. It is likely that the interest rates will go up in future and the UK government has not actually cut spending since it is going up this year so repayments will be even higher. Coincidentally Mark Steyn was in London yesterday and added his 2c

the best observation is this part....

The “nice” people bussed in from the shires struck me as some of the most stupid people I’ve ever met anywhere on the planet. One elderly lady from Yorkshire told me she was there because her grandson’s university fees were likely to go up. I was in a cranky mood because I hadn’t had my coffee. “You can protest all you like,” I said. “But this country’s broke, so all you’re doing is postponing its reacquaintanceship with reality, and ensuring that your grandson and his contemporaries are going to be stuck with the tab because you guys spent their future.” I pointed out that in her part of the world – northern England – as in Wales and Northern Ireland, the state accounts for three-quarters of the economy. And it’s still not enough for the likes of her and her pals.

She stared at me blankly. “Well, I don’t want to argue,” she said politely. “I just think it’s a disgrace.”

These idiots just don’t get it.

  4. By the way, this is nearly a non-story in the US.

Go online to Fox News. Forget the actual front page; find the World link and go to that home page. You won’t see it in the top links under the Europe section. So click on the Europe link, which is the tenth one over under that section. Then finally you’ll see a link to the story; it’s the 2nd one. So in newspaper terms, assuming a newspaper about a foot thick, this story is in Section D, Subsection J, Page 2. Buried much?
    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/03/26/protests-turn-violent-london-budget-cuts/

Commander Bob Broadhurst of the Metropolitan Police confirmed that more than 250,000 people had marched peacefully, but said around 500 had caused trouble in London’s main shopping streets.

He said nine people had been arrested, for public disorder and criminal damage.

Police said one group of a few hundred people broke away from the main march, scuffling with police officers and attempting to smash shop windows on two of London’s main shopping streets. Others threw objects at the posh Ritz Hotel in nearby Piccadilly. Members of protest group UK Uncut later broke into the nearby luxury department store Fortnum and Mason and broke some displays.

But the protests otherwise had a carnival feel. School teachers, nurses and students all marched through central London toward Hyde Park, one of London’s biggest public gardens, with banners, balloons and whistles.

On CNN’s page, you have to first find the minor “World” link, click it, and from there find the minor “Europe” link, and click that to get to the link to the story, which describes it as “Scuffles at London Protest Over Cuts”.

London (CNN)—Scattered violence broke out Saturday as tens of thousands of demonstrators marched through central London to protest proposed austerity measures and public-sector spending cuts.

Police arrested 214 people for criminal damage, public order offenses, aggravated trespass and violent disorder after several businesses were vandalized, police said.

Thirty-one police officers were hurt during the protests, with one being treated in the hospital, they added. Police said another 53 people were injured, at least 15 of which were taken to the hospital.

Far more newsworthy are the stories that a) Prince William has chosen a cookie cake for the wedding, and b) the Margate NJ landmark, a 120 year old sculpture of Lucy The Elephant, is set to get a new tail.

“Special Relationship” my ass. Nobody in our media gives two shits what happens in the UK unless at least a dozen people die horribly. You don’t exist, and we don’t care.
