Aw, what cute little jets! They look like something out of a Roger Ramjet cartoon.
Those planes are so.......red.
Hello Skipper,I remember when we had a real display team , with combat ready planes and pilots. In 1958 the RAF formation team looped over Farnborough with 22 (twenty two) beautiful Hawker Hunters. Still a record I think.
Skipper I doubt the petition will achieve much. Just recently they had another petiton about road charging. Not only do I have to pay nearly $400 tax a year to run a car (vehicle excise duty) plus about $6 a gallon of gas. Now they want to charge us per mile. Up to £1.34 or $2.50 a mile. Around a million or maybe a million and a half people signed the petition against this but they are still pressing ahead with the idea.
The Red Arrows are pretty impressive. Maybe if we could afford F18’s we could be as good as the Blue Angels! However in the socialist republic of Britainistan there are just too many other worthy causes like 14yr old mothers, asylum seekers and the work shy to allow us to buy bigger jets.
Our once proud navy which once operated on the two power standard. (ie it was bigger than the combined fleets of at least two major powers). Has been reduced to a virtual coastal defence force. Our aircraft carriers which are really just glorified cruisers have been stripped of their aircraft. The wrangling over the new carriers drags on with the treasury unwilling to commit the funds needed when there are so many other things to spend it on (see above) In Britain it appears that a third of all adults now rely on the government for a large proportion of their income. Not a recipe for success I would argue.
That is sad, LyndonB. If Argentina finds out about it they could grab the Falklands with two rowboats and a squad of girl scouts. You have no idea how much it saddens me to see this happen. No wonder Maggie Thatcher stays out of sight nowadays. She must be ashamed of how low things have sunk.
And don’t forget the Snowbirds....
i can rember when some air display team fucked up, Ities, that pretty much put an end to the red arrows in eurostan, a bit like concorde with the french, and that was a bit falling of a US planes fault , Drew, these guys could show you yanks a thing or two about flying, my best meromery of these guys was at the 79 gp at silverstone, i droped my hotdog
shit my pants, and could see the pilot upside down so close im sure i could have toutched the plane, all with in millesecounds, Great pilots. and im sure if i wanted to watch the blue angles in the US they would be smaller than roger ramjets due to the health n safety laws in the US (well away from the viewing puplic) and not as good as the red arrows.
a very sad day and we will get over it.
Skip dont be sad, our biggest tank movement since ww2 came in GW1, as far as the Falklands go, that place is like a fort, i would love the dagos to try againe, we need some chearing up here in the UK, get a grip of yourself man, LyndonB.
One tiny point you forgot allso Lyndon B ,is that we are backing the yanks up 100% we dont need aircraft carrers, let the yanks deal with it, we have a pretty big force down in iraq, they needed buddys, do they give a shit?.who cares, from the shit ive seen kicking around US blog sites,we aint even there, i wish i was french save some money let the yanks get on with it, less British boys in body bags, and not even so mutch as kiss your ass, and if we do come out of iraq, at least the yanks can hit the right target.
sorry skip.
not for what i said. but how i feel.
No problem, Bulldog. I assure you that those of us who have half a brain here in the US are intensely aware of the job the Brits are doing down in Basra and the south of Iraq. Those lads have kept the southern part of Iraq very quiet - although no one seems to notice it in the US media.
For the record, the Brits have lost 132 good men in Iraq (not counting wounded). I don’t think the US media has reported that even once. That sucks.
It would be nice for the Red Arrows to get first line fighter jets like the Blue Angels or Thunderbird’s. I remember when the T-Birds were flying T-38’s...very unimpressive. The Red Arrows are good. When I was stationed at RAF Fairford, we lived in family housing at RAF Brize Norton. From my front picture window, I could sit and watch the Red Arrows practice...they always put on a good show.
