What CAR???
Never did like fins, but the knobs are nice…
"Who is she...? She’s beautiful!” -Luke Skywalker Star Wars, Episode IV
....and the girl’s pretty cute too.
Ok, so actually the girl is very hot, but I couldn’t resist. Where did you find this fine specimen of the feminine Skipper?
The car’s in mint shape, but even with the artwork its still nearly as ugly as every vehicle made by Dodge prior to 1965. And this is the good looking end! The girl’s a stunner though.
Hey Drew! Dodge? Girl, yahoooooo
This great picture is from the Magnificent Classic Cars show in Bangkok, Thailand this last weekend. I have no idea who the young lady is but she sure has a great pair of fins and seems to be having a lot of fun.
Yeah, Dodge. Yes I know this one is a Chevy, but that whole late 50s - early 60s era of auto design leaves me cold, with only 2 or 3 exceptions. And least appealing to me of the whole lot were the cars made by Mopar. Ack, the neighbors had one in the early 60s, I swear it had fins front and rear. Even as a little kid I thought it was hideous. Don’t know what model it was but it wasn’t very big, had bug eyed headlights and a protruding chrome grill. Just about the ugliest car ever made, it turned me off to the entire era.
Nice headlights.
Car!?! What car?
There is a car in the picture?? Could have foooled me. I just saw headlights not taillights.
Then there was true automotive Poetry in Motion: The Studebaker Hawk, The DeSoto, The Packard, The Buick Roadmaster, The Edsel, and of course, even the humble little Nash Metropolitan had its own smidgen of charm.
Now everything is just boring, look-alike, rice-suckin’ little greenie-weenie econoboxes
The girl is cute; ‘nuf said.
Anything GM with fins after ‘57 was Helen Thomas-hideous. ‘59s were the worst. Fords, too, especially Edsels. Ugh.
As for Mopar, I gotta go with the ‘70 and ‘71 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda convertible, ‘71 being the best (like the Nash Bridges car, only that was a ‘70 with the front clip from a ‘71; they only built 11 or 14 of them, depending on who you talk to, and they’re each worth over $3mil). I’ve seen a few of the Plymouth Super Bees, and they weren’t too bad, but the huge rear spoiler was a bit...over the top.
I can’t wait ‘til the new Challenger comes out in 2008…
Drew, I think you’re talking about the early Valiant Signet - easily the ugliest car of all time. I never did figure out how it survived it’s first year of production. Be careful though, I believe Christine was a Plymouth Fury - she’s still out there somewhere.
btw Rat Patrol, how could you leave the Studebaker Avanti off your list?
I’d also like to add the Duesenburg Model J and Model SJ (pretty much the same, except the SJ had a supercharger) to the list of great American cars.
Red Five you are a man with taste. I personally am waiting till the General reintroduces teh Camaro...heheheh....I’ve hung on to my 98 Z28 with praying for a new one.
Forgot to mention, great balance too.
thats a chevy
