  1. The ideology of the passivist is the ideology of the child - if only, if only, if only…

You will secure neither peace nor candies by wishing them to be.

  3. Yes, and one of the reasons we are where we are now is the ‘take the images off the air’ ‘don’t profile, that just isn’t nice’ ‘Iraq is a quagmire’ crowd. The only nice thing for me is knowing when this bursts wide open probably 75+% of that crowd will be mowed down first. The only real survivors will be the ones willing to sell their souls to the enemy (and who have the perceived money/power/position) that will keep them alive.

Stupid people are going to drag the whole entire world into a war unlike any other. My only fear about this is that when the smoke clears, the whinners morons will be the first to start whinning about how awful it is that America/Britain/Australia are in charge of the world - bad superpowers lording it over the rest of the world - not Thanks for saving us from ourselves and pure evil.

But lest these impressions of the United States seem unduly favourable, it should be added that the Americans have not remained in happy possession of their free constitution without cost. Thomas Jefferson warned that the tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots. To the Americans, the idea that freedom and democracy exact a cost in blood is second nature.

  7. Well said. Then there is this phrase from ancient Rome:

    “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum.”

If you want peace, prepare for war.
