  1. For a rough estimate, meters are about 10 percent longer than yards - 39.37 inches vs 36 inches. 350 meters is roughly 385 yards, minus. Kilometers are about 5/8 of miles (61 and a fraction percent).

  2. The same thing happened here in Salt Lake City.  A hill side collapsed and crushed a house with a family of 3 in it. All perished.
