Those Who Ignore History …

 

1. The flip side of this coin is that dictatorships can arise that use populist ideas such as reclaiming the Falkland Islands or Las Malvinas as they like to call them. BTW on the back of the Argie passport there is a map of Argentina including the Falkland Islands. I also note that Billary Clinton was all for Britain engaging in dialogue with Argentina over the Falkland Islands. No doubt she also plans to invite the Japanese to Washington to discuss sovereignty of Guam.

2. I’m thoroughly convinced that Obama and Company don’t care if the economy tanks.  They will have their wealth and power while the rest of us are just trying to find enough to keep from starving. 

   It’s the wrong question to ask why Obama is following a disastrous course.  The real question is why do so many people here in the U.S. still support him and his policies? 

   One liberal commentator made the observation that many of the people who were against Obama’s programs would benefit greatly from the programs.  He couldn’t understand why people wanted to give away their entitlements.  It just never occurred to him that maybe some people think of the good of the country and all the people in it.  Even if you want to limit it to just personal benefit, lots of people like me believe that we will be better off if private industry isn’t hobbled by by central planning (worked good in Russia - yes?) and social welfare programs.

   For what it’s worth, I really am one of the people hoping that the economy recovers pretty soon.  I’m seriously underemployed (great euphemism) just now, but if private industry recovers, I should be doing pretty well.  I see stopping Obama with his government controls and entitlement programs as being in my best interest.

3. I already read that book.Many times in many flavors. Road to Serfdom, Atlas Shrugged,Etc Etc.Sadly most Americans from grade school on never have and most likely wont bother as long as mommy and daddy pay the bills till they can get on some ones dole.Thank God the federal government is hiring at a cheetas pace,,,Groan!!
