  1. Our son is handicapped - so he is still on our insurance and has been declared a Medically Dependent Adult Child. Well the first one was at 16 right after he was injured, then we had to file all the paperwork again, when he was 18 (he was now an ‘adult’) then it was to be every 4 to 5 years (depending on whim of those involved) for the rest of his life. Our one at 21 was much like this letter. He has been in DEERS (the Military’s ‘benefits’ data base) - since he was born - but alas, we had to provide his birth certificate and a copy of a signed statement from the local office - that indeed he was in DEERs (like it changed from 3 years prior, or 5 or 7 or even at all during his previous 21 years). But then it got worse. He’s been medically declared handicapped by both the Military and the state (he gets a handicap placard and SSI) - and we are required (every time) to submit the medical records - as to his handicap and current medical treatment - but get this. The OH moron (Cleveland) - wanted the information verified by an ADULT - like our neighbor - even though all of it was signed by DOCTORS.

We went back to do it again - all the same paperwork, same song and dance (again) - and same moron in 2011 - and she was up to form - did not want anything printed front to back - so we had to re-mail the papers on separate sheets. Yada, yada, yada, but when we went in for the actual ID card - big surprise - we no longer have to jump through the hoops anymore - well, not anymore, just not for a very long time - he’s good until he’s 65. And I can remember one guy doing the same song and dance and complaining that his son wasn’t going to get better - he was 70 and his son was 50 - and he’d been doing this crappola since his son was born!

In addition to that - the BMV is just as obtuse - we have to get his placard replaced every whatever number of years - and of course that is paperwork, again signed by a doctor. The local person did not want to accept it - as the doctor had not put a end date this is for a ‘permanent’ placard not a temp one. He was so angry when I went back - that he wrote - PERMANENT AS IN FOREVER.

Gotta love bureaucratic weennies - they have risen to the height of incompetence.

  3. Kind of like the clearance I get every year to work with the elderly and children.
The exact thing, but EVERY year I have to fill out a form with every address I have lived at and the names and ages of everyone I lived with for the last 35 years.
What the hell? They can’t just store said info into a computer and have me a send an update every year?
I could just be a smart ass and send in the crew rosters of the barracks I lived in in boot camp and the crew lists of the frigate and Battleship I lived on in the Navy. I bet they would be tickled pink over that one.

I finally just photocopied the last one and put it in my files. Stupid buggers. Would be too little work for me to send them a letter stating; “Hey guys, haven’t changed shit in the last 365 days!”

Don’t get me started on the yearly police checks for my hazmat endorsement on my CDL.

Guess a lot of terrorist make sure their paperwork is in order before they get tankers loaded with volatile materials…
