  1. Or what about a giant middle finger tower?

  2. Now I’m REALLY hoping that Donald Trump’s Plan becomes the one that wins the day.  There’s still time…

  3. Great post.  You’re right on target with America becoming pussified.

  4. Donald Trump is coming to the rescue I hear.

  5. Seems like the architect is “invisioning” an ugly, impractical monument to his ego in the upper part, and the PC crowd with Soros and Co. is intent on building a monument to PC and socialist thought in the basement.

I for one would like to see a huge rock-solid, functional building in the Empire State Building oeuvre, but taller, something that could stand an airplane hit, something that would make Americans proud, something that would tell the barbarians “we’re baaaccckkk!” Forget the need of egoists to trumpet their newer, uglier, offputting, no talent con job designs.  And Soreass and Co. can get stuffed while we do a proper memorial for the victims of that day.

Trump isn’t a favorite of mine, but neither were my toughest teachers at the time, but they got the job done, and I’m better for it.
I hope he wins the day.

  6. OCM, I’m not sure I understand your question.  It’s not about those on the far right believing that America can do no wrong.  No country is perfect.  Neither is Jorge Bush and our other politicians.  For one thing, I don’t think Bush is conservative enough.  To me, he’s only moderate right or moderate left, whichever way the wind blows.

  7. I too am for the Trump plan. There isn’t a better idea than to just build them BIGGER!

  8. I’m for rebuilding bigger and better. IF it’s going to remind anyone of a human body part it should be finger

  9. When talk of what “memorial” should be on that site was being bantered about-in my pre-blogosphere days-I told people that the LAST thing we needed was another huge paen to the dead.-lest we become like like europe, whose lanscape has become one of “cemetaries”.
The best memorial to the victims of 9/11 was to rebuild the towers-bigger,better,stronger.
I still feel the same way.

  10. Hey, is Trump a conservative.  I mean, the smart money is on him being one, but I don’t know.  Anyone?

Skipper, that is realy “deep,” your observation on the giant phallus being replaced with a big vagina.  Really.

You know, it’s libs that are the ones that actually are in favor of tyranny.  Socialism has always been enforced by coercive means.  And taking the side of Saddam, Osama, the Palis et al is another aspect of it.  And WE’RE the ones how are fascists?  Don’t think so.

I was reading something recently that referred to this concept as the “illiberal liberalism.” In other words, so-called “liberals” ARE NOT in fact liberals.  We are.  Freedom baby.

  11. OCM, what’s this WTC memorial have to do with the religious right’s views on God?  Did you know that there’s also an albeit smaller religious LEFT (those people are some real kooks)?

    while we’re on the subject,
We have freedom to practice the religion of our choice as stated in the Constitution, and Congress shall make no law having anything to do with religion.  That means, contrary to the ACLU’s view, that religious expression is ALWAYS protected, wherever it is.  As it so happens, your typical conservative is A LOT more religious than your typical “liberal.” - if there is such a ting as your typical conservative or liberal.

Anyway, this is a good discussion for a Monday morning.

  12. Sure, I agree.  It probably would be inappropriate, architecturally, to build a 2,000 foot high cross, though.

  13. should be a tower 2001 feet, 8.75 in tall (9/11 being 8.75/12 of the way through a year)

  14. I think the architect thought in metaphor when he designed this… very much as Maya Lin thought when she designed the Vietnam Memorial.

From great depths we rise again.

It could be very powerful.  I just hope New Yorkers rise up in arms against the proposed cultural center.  THAT is the travesty here.
