This idea isn’t new to me, but I hadn’t seen it on this scale before. Take a look.

  1. That is nice to see usually in England these places become badld designed apartments.

  2. There is a small old castle in Bad Kissingen Germany - It was/is open to the public as the last family member of the original family died in the late 60s - I went through in 1980 - it was kind of odd to see this old drafty castle with pretty much old drafty things in it - until you got to a small section on the first floor - 60s all the way down to the tv - it is where she lived until she died.

At least you guys keep your stuff - outside the east coast - unless some politico lived in it - chances are pretty good now days - it is razed to make some new condos. Disgusts me to no end.

  5. Lyndon will check me on this (I HOPE) but I think that some taxes are based on postal codes.
If you’re here Lyndon, would this place fall into that category?  I keep hearing about post code taxes but not always clear on how they determine it.  For example, our falling down poor old house can’t come close to the million dollar property being built next door. Anyone buying this place will have to demolish it.  But as I understand things, even so, the fact that we have a limited view and a farm field and horse pasture across the street, is taken into consideration.
Rich ... their electric bill in winters would be staggering. To us anyway.

  6. As I understand it in England the council tax as it is called is a function of the value when the legislation was introduced, the upsurge in property values were deliberately left out of the workings so houses were banded, hovels were band A and so on to F, my last house was band B, each band has its cost, these alter in area to area depending how bad the councillors are at squandering taxes, things like the view, quality of constuction, heating, parking alter the band.Peiper lives in a good area, not too much social housing and lots of wealthy band F properties so tax levels are probably reasonable but hit charming country bungalow with period features and rural outlook (realator speak) will attract a higher band, I was paying over $4000 canadian for my 3 bed 100 year old end of terrace granite cottage with a 20 foot square garden, in Orillia we pay $2000 for a large 4 bed with integral 15 by 28 garage (old house had no garage) and a 200 by 85 lot, in the UK we sometimes had the road swept, maybe once a year, here half the money does all the same council workings and we have the roads ploughed and salted for 4 months a year, I do wonder if the lower levels of socialism impact this comparison?
