1. Good. That’s more money we can spend on ourselves then. Let the pirate warlords spread the wealth around with that ransom money. That is, until we get around to killing them all.

3. Jersey, don’t laff. It’s been done re. Taliban. There’s a program wherein they are being paid not to fight. Not all are taking the money but it’s being reported here that many of their fighters are just guys with guns who are actually being paid by the Taliban. Often in the form of drugs. So the program here is designed to pay them more not to fight.
   It seemed to work sometimes in ancient England when the Danes and others (all Vikings of course) were paid off. It was called Danegeld I think. My spelling may be off. Problem was of course, when the gold and silver was spent, they came for more.

4. Your spelling is fine. And that instance shows that paying off your enemies never works, and it never has. The Romans tried the same thing with the Visigoths, and that didn’t work either. 1000 years later, and it won’t work long with terrorists, whether in Somalia or anywhere else.

   Kill them all, or surrender. There is no middle ground, and there is no danegeld.
