Dreyfuss does an encore from the shipboard scene in “JAWS”:
I’m tired and I wanna go to bed,
I had a little drink about an hour ago
and it went straight to my head
Another actor I won’t watch anymore-except for “Jaws"-obviously.
Another dipshit bringing a knife to a gunfight…
My wife tells me that the book “Jaws” is much darker than the movie; the Dreyfuss character has an affair with the Chief’s wife, unlike the loving marriage depicted in the movie. In one regard it’s more satisfying: Dreyfuss gets eaten by ‘Bruce’.
I’d pay to see that.
It’s a good thing I don’t have a TV any more, nor do I go to movies much. The list of actors I don’t want to support by watching their stuff is growing at a rapid pace.
>causes worth fighting for even if you know that you will lose< I guess I must admit that he is smart enough to realize that theirs is a LOSING cause
>with congressional balance< Except that our current crop is quite unbalanced and extremely partisan - so nothing but blame is getting done
>people in the media should “maintain the integrity of that debate” by not dismissing the topic out of hand as partisan or unpatriotic.< our msm has almost no integrity, doesn’t even grasp the concept of debate, and revels in its partisan and unpatriotic ‘world view’attitude
The only thing giving me hope when reading liberals of late is their sheer stupidity. And the fact that he is given print space - arrogance.
A cause to be working for on my end is to make sure I don’t directly support any of Dreyfuss’ work, or any of his ridiculous ignorant friends’ work either.
Then call me *asinine* - for I have long thought and practiced voting with my wallet- I don’t pay to see *movie stars* blather on about their political views - I pay to see their acting ability,(or inability in some cases, ha!).
Why should a *movie star* or *celebrity* have any more accessibility to the media to spout their political views, using their celbrity status as clout, than the everyday working man off the street? The answer is simple- They shouldn’t- and I certainly will not pay for it.
As far as all of the *100’s of folks behind the scene*, perhaps the idiot *star* should think of those same people before they open their mouths.
JMHO *smile*
I like the part where Dreyfuss threatened to lose his sense of humor. I sure hope he doesn’t. What a sight that must be!
So who is this doofus?
Today’s oxymoron is in the title of the post.
Dammit, OCM, I was gonna ask if Duffus was gonna play Cheney in the movie.
Another actor I won’t watch anymore-except for “Jaws"-obviously.
It’s okay, Barb. We know you’re cheering for the shark.
Funny thing, Duffus is for impeaching Bush but was against impeaching Clinton. Funnier thing: he proclaims himself as “libo-conservo-middle-of-the-roado”. Yeah, right! I wonder what a search of the Federal Election Commission donation database might turn up…
When I read the ‘middle of the road’ thing, SKerr, I wondered if he thinks he is really that good an actor or that we are that stupid. He has been running around spouting his inane BS for years now. I am so tired of these morons thinking we are as stupid and easily swayed as they are.
I used to like Mr. Doofus, too. I liked him in Stakeout.
Used to be that most folks thought that any actor was a bit dippy and smiled politely when an actor would get involved in a serious discussion. The Regan became Governor of California, thereby making a ton of dipshits who are mostly good at playing “pretend” think that they are political geniuses. Hate to say it, but the Gipper really set a bad example.
Are you saying that we can’t express our disagreement with Duffus, OCM? It seems to me that since we don’t get invited to the National Press Club to speak that we’re perfectly within our rights to speak out here or anywhere else we can get a venue. Go read his speech. He gratuitously attacks other people as well. He’s an actor who pretends to be other people. In his speech he’s pretending to have a few thoughts of his own.
I happen to with what Ron Silver and Bruce Willis say, so it’s not all actors that I disagree with.
I’m surprised how my memory confirms what DrJ said; when Reagan announced, I thought, “An actor in politics?” Opposition commercials featured Dan Blocker ("Hoss" on ‘Bonanza’) saying, “I’m an actor too, but I can tell fantasy from reality”. You saw actors mainly in controversial “Buy US Savings Bonds” Public Service Messages.
OCM, I don’t care what he says or does, because he has the right to say what he thinks, whenever he likes. What I do object to is the implied subtext deinegrating me and the things I believe in. I don’t have to and won’t support people who hold me in contempt. Kinda like Jane Smiley and her comments that the Red-Stater’s are idiots. I won’t be buying her books either. So all the Hollywood people can spout off all they like, I just don’t have to put my money in their pockets.
SK,
Don’t forget about James Woods (although I think he is actually educated in things military and political). He is incredibly intelligent IMHO and I enjoyed listening to him. I don’t think the more conservative actors spout off quite as much ,though. And they aren’t quite as acidic. Maybe it just doens’t irritate me as much (thought it doesn’t sway me any either) is because it is actually coherent and not completely self important.
And, OCM, I keep hoping Doofus and Co. keep talking. I won’t pay to see them in the theatre but thanks to their big yaps, I keep plenty entertained! And when I disagree with them, I have yet to torch a fast food joint or behead anyone. I can actually just disagree with fairly civil language. There is the difference between the cartoon protests and this.
Unless anyone else is feeling particularly violent?!?!?!
Yes, by all means, let them keep talking. Encourage them, even. It’s the best cure. If they keep yapping they show themselves for the ignorant, shallow, thoughtless parrots that they are. It’s working for Cindy Sheehan. The “darling of the left” is beginning to be avoided by those who first embraced her.
I still reserve the right to mock and criticize them, though.
ha ha ha look at dreyfuss, trying to be the first comie, chaplins been there seen it done it,ha ha ha. he was good in jaws, playing the rich kid.stick to acting asshole.
I’ll give them the possibility that they have more creativity than me and probably have better imaginations too. I won’t accept their opinions as being any more relevant than mine, or even yours, OCM. Welll, maybe some of yours…
Like it says in the good book, though: Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and all of them stink. Well, it may not have been in The good book but it was certainly in a good book.
