Whoa wait a minute -
Chairman Dave Whelan, who said he learned details of the trial only days ago, said: ‘He is absolutely sacked.
‘We will not tolerate football players who get sent to jail for 18 months.’
King joined Wigan Athletic in 2008 (This from Wikipedia (yeah, I know)’bio’ on King).
King has convictions for 14 offences, dating from 1997 (same)
In May 2002 he received an eighteen month prison sentence for receiving stolen goods, in relation to a BMW convertible that he was found driving. (same)
So - If I read the timeline correctly Wigan Athletic hired a convicted (sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2002) athlete and thus lied in the second conviction and sentence of 18 months. Hmm, I wonder why?
Could it be that King was also sentenced to registering as a sex offender?
Or perhaps this
might imply that our ‘university student’ has some important parents?‘You’re not even in my league.’
Either way - Wigan hired a recidivist criminal and got what they deserved - and finally maybe so did King.
