The reason you can not tell me anything new is because I already know all there is to know.

  1. I work for a to-be-unnamed government agency.  I wear a uniform, carry a gun, badge, handcuffs, whack-stick, anti-nasal spray and all the other impedia thereunto pertaining.

As part of my duties, I tell people they cannot do certain things.  With the force of law, I prevent them from doing certain things.  Under color of law, I seize things from people.  I sometimes issue fines - and collect them on the spot.

It is women like the trolls mentioned herein that give us ‘jack-booted thugs’ a bad odor.

  2. It’s not stupidity, it’s certainty. The belief that one knows and doesn’t need to learn. Like Archie I have seen the certain in action, convinced they can’t be in the wrong. At least until they find themselves sitting in a crumbled car shoved aside a couple hundred yards by a local trolley.

Funny thing is, it’s always a young lady. Early, mid twenties, most often white, always upper middle class, obviously never allowed to try breaking her damn, fool neck. Never a male, for as foolish as young men are, they always do something suicidally stupid knowing full well what they’re getting into.

So she drives in front of the trolley, and ends up in a state of shock because she was so certain wonderful her could not be discomforted by anything so crass as a large structure bearing a substantial momentum impacting her vehicle.

We would be performing a great service for our women if we made them play Australian Rules Football in highschool. A rough and tumble game Australian Rules Football.

  3. I really don’t want to beat up on the trolls. Are they stiff-necked? Or ‘certain’ as mythusmage calls it? Certainly. They also have you at their mercy and they know it. Why? Because of this statement:

I don’t understand how women cope with a lot of things that most men (I do include myself) would choose to ignore and would not cope with as well.  If at all.  You couldn’t pay me enough to change anyone’s diaper.

What’s not to understand? The reason women can cope with such stuff is that they give birth. Which means they’ve already gone through tougher things than diapers.

Now, I wouldn’t like it. I would rather not have to change adult diapers. Babies are bad enough, especially when one of those babies was your sister. I don’t have to like it; But if it needs doing, then I’ll do it. His wife does it, why can’t he?

Who knows? I may very well have to do the same for my wife…

My former neighbor across the street managed to care for his wife for fifteen years, until she died. At the time I bought this house, she’d already suffered a stroke that paralyzed her from the waist down. She was confined to a wheelchair, and had no control over bowels or bladder. Joe managed, without outside help, except other family when they came to visit on holidays, birthdays, etc.

His unwillingness gives the trolls power. He can’t be paid enough to change a diaper. If he was willing to change the diapers, and was indeed doing it like his wife does, he’d bloody well show the trolls how to do it, and inform them they are to do it his way!

Just my ‘arrogant’ opinion, as Turtler would say. smile

  4. Chris,
The old lady (wife’s mom) has the service provided by Social Services which she spent years paying into.  Overall, the women who come here are the sort of folks you’d beg to be friends with.  They really are decent people and friendly. BUT ...

There are always exceptions and we have run into a few over four years time.

Somehow, some of them fancy themselves doctors or police. Not always sure which. A couple have been officious in the extreme. AND THEY CAN NOT BE MISTAKEN.
Thing is, it’s us (wife and I) who are here 24/7 and live with things, wife more so then me,
and over time we find that one rule or guideline does not fit all situations. But to listen to the trolls I wrote about, there is only ever one way to do anything and that includes holding an opinion.

We’ve actually had one or two doctors tell us that some care givers are a problem as they make medical pronouncements to a family who of course immediately call a doctor who then comes to the house when a patient can’t get out.  Especially an old one. Only to find nothing.  Now that doesn not imply that a doctor as well can’t be wrong and make a serious mistake. But the fact is, there are these ppl and thankfully not many, who just refuse to listen and who are in addition just looking for something to be offended by.  I wrote one such person.

A month ago the patient had been visited by no less then three doctors in ten days.
One of them told us that what was happening wasn’t serious as it was common in ppl that old. 93.  This very same CG (troll) the one I wrote about, claimed the doctor’s opinion was ridiculous. OK, and what was her solution then?  Did she have any kind of medical answer?  DUH ... blank when I asked her.

I regard some of them as practicing medicine without a license.

With regard to changing diapers.  You do not live with someone for 39 years as my wife and I have, without getting to know them pretty well. Warts and all.
My wife would be horrified at the thought that I’d have to do that for her. She wouldn’t want it, and it’s highly unlikely that I’d be up to it if it came to that.

The care agency in question is a for profit business btw.  The troll who seemed to want me to be saying she didn’t know her job, can be replaced with someone else.
