  1. Armies and navies and air forces may be lead by officers, but the real power that makes them work are the non-coms, the sergeants and chiefs. These are the guys who have to stand between the officers and the enlisted, to both carry out the officers’ orders but also to ensure the officer does not do something too stupid.

Nobody in Saddam’s military would stand up to officers who, more often than not, held their rank due to family and other connections. Any poor sergeant standing up to an officer would likely be shot out right. The Iraqi army had poor officers and few non-coms who could do the job a western style military needs them to do.

It takes a looonnnngggg time to train up a cadre of non-coms. We have taken them a very long way to get this many troops up and running. Good job!

Not that we’ll hear much about this on the Cresent News Network or whatever.

  2. Assuming we still have a country where it’s still legal, I am going to REALLY laugh hard at all the “quagmire” nitwits if/when their argument goes down in flames.  I hate to have to include the if at all, but there is a small chance left still they might be right.  But since so much of everything else they say is pure baloney, I’m not betting on it…

  5. The news is, no longer the news… what passes for news today is what is fed to MSM as news, and passed along as truth without hardly a critcial eye to real journalism. It probably is more than likely due to a pronounced left tilt of MSM ownership, pure laziness and complacency of the journalists and editors, an educational system that supports and teaches an agenda of “World Care” vs US patriotism and the pure economics of the MSM buying favor from despot regimes for news and regurgitating back to the public as news thus continuing the propaganda machine. sheep
