So, if they’d told you forty years ago that whooping cough and bedbugs would be big problems in 2010…
NAAAAA, Just media hype,Go kiss a frog already.
Myself and my granddaughter went through this in January of this year. It is horrible. Also, the booster shot may be very difficult to find and can usually only be found at the health department for $75 to $100. The original shot is only good for a few years and a booster shot is required to keep you and your children safe. The best web site to learn from is http://www.whoopingcough.net/ . At this same site, we also learned how to “control” the cough so the spasm did not cause us to “whoop” for a breath. I share it with you here. And YES, it is a God-send and really works:
A physiotherapist has emailed me an anecdote that I am inserting below.
“We have named the following technique Christabel’s method after my
daughter (9) as she noted that by attempting to stop herself from
inspiring reflexively between coughs she could reduce the length and
the violence of the cough and prevent reflux. Simply put she delays
herself breathing in and holds what breath she has left for as long as
possible then tries to breath slowly. This technique may not work on
the first cough of the series but in our experience appears to slow
down subsequent coughs. The techniques requires practice but does
allow the patient some control back in their bodies! As this method
requires the patient to overcome their natural reactions I suspect
this is only suitable for older children and adults.”
My first attack came on a Sunday afternoon with one deep cough. As I tried to draw in a breath after coughing the air out, I found I was unable to take any air in. Of course, the first time causes untold panic! The spasms usually only last 20 to 45 seconds which make the Christabel Method work perfectly. I sincerely hope this will help someone who may be experiencing this horrible disease to breathe a little easier. ~ad <><
OK - so do we go to the Dr to get a diagnosis or what? I’m not sure what week we are in with the future president (youngest daughter) but man oh man - what joy - 3rd World diseases come back to haunt the greatest Nation in the World because 536 idiots in DC want to bring her to her knees. And if TB comes back - we are scr*wed as hubby & oldest daughter already went through INH once for blowing positive & we all really shouldn’t do the little arm test but rather the PPD. Nice to know I have a bunch of pandering, thieving, lying gov crapweasels to thank for all of this. May they all rot in hell.
Frakking Illegals.
Not just illegals, but I do blame them for a large share of it. It’s also parents who have not been getting their kids immunized. While most babies do get the shots, a large number of older children don’t get the boosters. And they can be hard to find, as Aunti pointed out.
Yes, to be 100% sure, the doctors have to run a test. But that often comes too late, after the body has taken down the bacteria. But the symptoms remain. Go figure.
Follow Auntie’s link. It’s a decent site.
I expressed my concerns about it yesterday when I went back to the doctor, and told her how I had read in the news that CA, PA, and NY were at the epidemic levels with it. “Oh really?” She had no awareness of this, and did not want to hear it from me. Typical doctor arrogance, that any patient should be aware of health issues they were oblivious to.
So you get sick, cough your guts out for weeks, and hope that the antibiotics they give you stave off pneumonia etc, and hope that the secondary meds - sudafed, mucinex, albuterol inhalers, aspirin, codeine cough syrup, steam therapy - keep the symptoms under control. Then eventually you get better. Or you die.
