  1. Professor Liviu Librescu, a hero of the old world.  No thought but to try and save his students.  No thought about his life.  Just do the right thing and try to save people.

My sympathies and prayers go to his family.  May they eventually find peace within this tragedy.  May the grace and love of the Lord God, King of Kings descend on them and provide comfort and peace to them.

Professor Liviu Librescu, a toast to you for your actions to save others.  As the Lord God said, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

Professor, you will NEVER be forgotten.  You will be remembered as a hero of the highest order.

  2. As a Blacksburg resident, I am shocked by yesterday’s events.  Blacksburg has always been a nice quite rural community, but that has now changed.  This school year started off with the Morva incident that killed two police officers.  We’ve had 2 bomb threats in the last 2 weeks and now this crap.  What in the world is wrong with some people?
As i sit here at my desk, I’m having a hard time getting much done.  I could hear the police PA system from my office yesterday.  I think this will get me to fill out that CCW form thats been on my desk for a while.

Bill you are correct.  Professor Liviu is a true hero.  He never thought of himself, only about saving those around him.

    God Bless

  3. Shai Dorsai!!

    Indeed, John 15:13.

May clouds of angels escort you to a better place.

  4. Then out spake brave Horatius,
    The Captain of the gate:
‘To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
    Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods,

    And for the tender mother
    Who dandled him to rest,
And for the wife who nurses
    His baby at her breast,
    And for the holy maidens
    Who feed the eternal flame,
To save them from false Sextus
That wrought the deed of shame?

‘Hew down the bridge, Sir Consul,
    With all the speed ye may;
I, with two more to help me,
Will hold the foe in play.
In yon strait path a thousand
May well be stopped by three.
Now who will stand on either hand,
And keep the bridge with me?’

A good and brave man, a real mensch, is gone; now who will stand on either hand and keep the bridge with him?

  5. Dick,

Since Professor Librescu guarded the gate and bridge on Earth with his life, he is now in the company of Saint Peter guarding the Pearly Gates.  This MAN will be missed and his sacrifice must NOT be forgotten.  Hopefully, Virginia Tech will create a Professor Librescu Memorial Chair or a memorial scholarship.  I don’t knw, but this MAN must never be forgotten.  And a survivor of the Holocaust no less.  This man has been through Hell on this Earth.  And he still remained a man of honor, courage, integrity.  A hero truly.  Not the phony type the Soviet Union proclaimed, but a Hero Of the Lord God.  No higher hero there is.

    Hand Salute {TAPS} TOO!

  6. Pontotoc Bill:  What a fine image.  Wish I’d have thought of it.

May the rest of us be worthy of his sacrifice.
