The Goreacle and the Prize

  1. Strange Noise Emanating From Swedish Graveyard!

Further investigation determined the “...low, rumbling sound...” specifically came from the grave of Alfred Nobel, famous inventor of dynamite and endower of the once-prestigious Nobel Prizes.

Commented one local observer, “It all started a couple years ago when Yassar Arafat was awarded the Peace Prize; but it really got loud yesterday when former Vice President Al Gore was awarded a prize for making that deeply flawed movie about Truth and Inconvenience; along with that United Nations committee.”

Another observer, an engineer opined “Sounds like the noise of something rotating.  I think old Alf is rolling over in his grave.”

Any question the Nobel Committee has gone completely political and far to the left? crazy

  2. Black is White, bad is good, lies are truth. Truly the world has turned upside down.

  3. What has he actually done, indeed? At least Carter actually brokered the Egyptian/Israeli deal.

  4. Yes its true Nobel is spinning in his grave at high RPM about 200,000 RPM.

  5. And BTW, tho my memory is a bit foggy on it, I recently saw a History/Learning/Discovery channel show about the Little Ice Age, c. 1250 - 1850. Seems that before it, Europe was vibrant, most people were well fed, culture was growing, crops reliable, etc. However, as the cooling increased, crops failed, arable land retreated southward, people got much more sick, the plagues started and did well in cooler weather than they would have in warmer, people had to migrate to find farmland thus causing, to a degree, the wars of the 14th century as condition grew worse and crowding increased.

Cooler earth is actually, historically, a bad thing, while a warmer earth, within limits, of course, is a good thing.

  6. I’ll steal a line from the latest Pratchett novel and paraphrase it becaue I feel that the “Glowbull Worming = Blame Bush/USA/people in general” mantra has so many people snookered:

“It was a dream, but Al was good at selling dreams. And if you could sell the dream to enough people, no one dared to wake up.”

When the Little Ice Age hit Europe back in the Middle Ages they started burning women as witches. (think of all that added CO2!) The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  7. The Nobel Prize has sunk to the level of a Punch and Judy show.

For those who believe in the Church of Global Warming, may I recommend a book I am in the middle of?

The Little Ice Age by Brian Fagan. Two things about the book, the author seems to believe in man-made global warming, and global warming is a good thing. His baseline is the Medieval Warming Period, not 1990. We’re still not as warm as during the Medieval Warming Period, when the Vikings colonized Greenland.

I might point out that man wasn’t spewing CO2 back then.

Well, maybe man was (fart) spewing… sick

  8. Dang you Peiper!  You beat me to it - I thought I was going to be the first to cite the 9 inconvenient mistakes.

I’ll repeat again.  The question isn’t if the weather is changing, the question is how will we position our civilization to deal with it.  Gore’s argument will result in the shutdown of a lot of industry and transportation, to say nothing of what home life will be like under his ideas.

The rich are different from us.  They rule the world.  Gore and company not only want to rule, they want to make sure that we are cold, hungry and subservient to the upper (rich) classes.  While he is playing ponzi with carbon offsets the rest of us will just get cold and hungry.  This is class warfare.  The irony is complete when you consider that this very Marxist idea is being pushed by someone from the Left!  The current generation of Liberals aren’t liberal!  They are the neo fascists.

  9. P.S. Did anyone besides me follow the link to:  “Cheap Stunt by Muslims”?  It’s so easy to dislike them that it scares me.

  10. Until the man stops consuming more than the average 3 American families - not to mention probably more than the average 10 other Country families - how dare he tell me 1)that I am at fault and 2)that I must change my lifestyle (which our ‘carbon footprint’ is negative) - so You First Al Gore. Until then STFU.

I know the fastest way to insure that a Republican will be elected in 2008 -

AL GORE FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008!!!!!!!!

    loser

  11. They should rename the award the Leni Riefenstahl Enlightenment Prize.

“The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never escape from it.” Goebbels

“Propaganda is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. If the means achieves the end then the means is good.........the new Ministry has no other aim than to unite the nation behind the ideal of the national revolution.” Goebbels

  12. Wardmama speaks and the MSM follows. It’s all over the news this morning - Will Gore’s Nobel get him to declare for ‘08??

Wow, she must have a real Magic 8 Ball!

  14. seems like every nobel “Peace” Prize starting in 1994 has been very politically motivated.. I’m kind of surprized Michael Moore didn’t get 1....
IMHO, This just sullies the people like MLKJR, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and many others who actually did some work towards World peace and not just a fakumentry on Global Warming..

Alfred Nobel is probaly rolling in his grave right now.. I don’t think this is what The Inventor of Dynamite quite intended the Nobel Peace Prize to become..

  15. Hmm, I just read the comments after posting my comment above.. to see that Archie basically said part of what I said except quite a bit better. about Alfred Nobel Rolling in his grave

  16. Peiper - don’t tempt me.  I’ve written enough ad copy to be able to lie while telling the apparent truth.  I got out of the business when I wasn’t sure if I was a pimp or a whore and wasn’t sure the difference was worth arguing.
