The Geneva Contention

  1. I just can not understand how this ever came to pass. I’ve read the Conventions; it’s obvious to me that these prisoners do not come under their auspices. No uniforms, no cohesive military structure (officers etc), they don’t represent any country or government, most of them can’t even be called local partisans since they’re not from the country that they were caught in. They have no rights whatsoever. W should have made that clear from the start. Once these thugs tortured or executed just one of our guys he should have said the bare truth: the Conventions do not apply here. Then maybe he could have found the courage to allow our troops to actually fight to win.

    I know, I’m living in a dreamworld.

  2. McCain, spent and lost some political capital on this topic. I used to have a relatively warm opinion of the man, but of late he has started to remind me of another Annapolis grad, Carter...What kind of Koolaid are they drinking down there?? bat3

  3. Just remember the premise movie “Manchurian Candidate”. I mean the original version, not the new pinko version which is an obvious leftwing swipe at Halliburton.

I think their particular brand of Koolaid is also called “raisin Jack”, an old time navy favorite of thirsty sailors throughout history.

  4. I just have to guess that in America now, it is more about getting re-elected than it is about Security, Foreign and Domestic issues and of course the all time favorite War. It is a shame that our politicians right now feel more concerned about their re-election (or perceived attempt at the Presidency) than their own Country. Probably most everyone knows that 1) none of these terrorists deserves any considerations, and most certainly not the Geneva Convention and 2) that what American soldiers, CIA, FBI whomever has done is torture by any means.

However, in the lunatic mind of the left (and tragically some of the ‘stupid masses) it is perceived that if we do not accord the terrorists the Geneva Convention rights we will be seen as coming down to their level - news flash there is a vast middle ground between the decent civilized law abiding levels of the Geneva Conventions and the public beheading (video at 11) of the terrorists we are fighting.

And the second aspect is the confusion which exists between decent civilized behavior and terrorism. It is what has led many (falsely) to believe that if we play nice and make nice that these lunatic killers will leave us alone. Just being nice does not work with criminals (which is why our crime rates are skyrocketing) and most certainly does not work with terrorists (actually plays into their hands, as they are counting on us to play nice). And to be Christian does not mean laying down and playing dead - that is a misnomer that the terrorists also count on.

What the lunatic left does not understand is that the American military are not the blood thirsty killers quite like the terrorists but rather deeply dedicated to family and patriots who are willing to risk their lives to protect their homes. Until the left gets that - they will continue to screed on and on and on about law, international opinion, fairness and all manner of bs.

Sad that there are some from the Repubs sinking to that level.

  5. Ok first in the previous post #2 should read - that what American soldiers, CIA, FBI whomever has done is NOT torture by any means.

This is War man: kill ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out; War is Hell; War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself; It is well that war is so terrible, or we should grow too fond of it; Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events; The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on; You can’t say that civilization don’t advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

I just still can’t grasp how after September 11, 2001 - every single person in the US is not clamoring to Support the Troops, bomb the heck out the terrorists and to string them up to the nearest tree.

I do have a question for McCain that I wish I could ask - how come he is so worried about what we are doing with terrorists and he is hamstringing the people trying to prevent the next terrorist attack and yet he doesn’t care that OIF’s only POW has not been heard from since April 2004 - no Red Cross visit, no letters (however edited) to his parents, no information, no clue if he is even alive . . . (although since his body hasn’t been thrown into a street, hung burning from a bridge or boobytrapped in a field, I think he is still alive)? Why care more about people who wanted to, attempted to and most certainly still would kill Americans than an American soldier held as a POW? McCain disgusts me right now - almost as much as he did the moment his wife who stood by while he was a POW was divorced the instant she suffered an injury - he is a dispicable person and should never be a Presidential candidate, much less President.

  6. It is increasingly clear that McCain belongs to the Pierre Laval school of politics, and frankly, I wonder if he has even read the Geneva protocol.  And that goes for the other dhimmified collaborationists who claim there is something to be gained by being nice to mad dogs.

Dear God, the stench of these gangrenous specimens!
