  1. JFK couldn’t run as a Democrat today. Not only a Veteran but a War Hero, Catholic, married, and all of his desire to see Americans succeed - even his resume enhancer of being a womanizer - wouldn’t help him.

  2. That really does say it all doesn’t it.

  3. LBJ and Carter?  Big deal they wore the uniform. Meaningless. Especially that dufus Carter.
OK, LBJ might have been a real hard ass, but he forced busing and other evils on the USA with his (failed) great society. I never worked out if he was actually liberal only to make political gain, or believed his bs. And Carter ... dunce and worst president in my lifetime.

  4. From what I’ve read, LBJ had a phony war career, getting medals for doing nothing and lying about his military record. Gee, that sounds familiar, doesn’t it Mr. Swiftboat?

Don’t even get me started on Kennedy.

Carter spent WWII going to college, and served honorably albeit quietly in the US Navy after the war, spending most of his time on ships, not behind a desk.

Clinton admits to being a draft dodger. He’s proud of it. That could be his inner lawyer talking, since he seems to have done it legally.

  5. peiper, let me come forward to defend Carter.

He was a ‘nuke’ officer, much as I was a ‘nuke’ ET.

The ‘nukes’ were just the nuclear-powered ships. Carter was an engineer on a nuke warship. I was an RO on the same sort of warship. I actually operated the reactor. And I was fully authorized to overrule stupid orders by young LTs like Carter. Trust me, the EWS, the EO, and the Throttleman would all back me if I had to tell the EOOW (Carter) where to stick his last order. We were ALL qualified ROs. Even the throttleman. The EOOW didn’t know crap about the ship he was on. Next week he’d be on another ship.
