  1. The Motorcycle Diaries movie was hyped as being good, but in all actuality it sucked wind.

  2. One good thing has happened, however. The citizens of Peru, in a very close 2 round Presidential Election, chose not to elect Chavez’s “appointee”, Ollanta Humala, a retired Peruvian Army major, whom, along with his brothers, tried a coup d’etat not once, but twice, unsuccessfully.

Chavez’s involvement in the Peruvian election process, with a campaign of insults from himself and his cabinet, was not appreciated by the Peruvian voters. He insulted the current president and all the running candidates, making threats of all kinds. That worked perfectly against Humala, since one dictators’ support for someone known for disliking the democratic process, coming from a country that doesn’t even share borders with it, was a little too much.
Both stand for US interests out of the country, seize all private industries, the notion that the people is equal, no one should be richer than the other, so, instead of trying to make everybody rich (or richer) by means of opportunities and investment, let’s equalize all in poverty, by seizing 2nd homes (per family), freezing and seizing bank accounts, cutting all overseas communication, changing the constitution to allow 30 years presidential terms (You think is a joke?, Chavez has done it), executing or jailing all “Gays, Religious and Whites” (Whites referred to those descendants of the spaniards, and foreigners, regardless of how “Peruvian” they could be, after 1 or 15 generations. Official racism, in the open.

The elected president is not the best one, either, but was the less harmful.
