  1. I have to agree with you peiper. Though I’m still wondering? Are you British? or American?

Regardless, the USA should not be the world’s cop. The world got along just fine without a world cop. I do believe that the USA should protect and support its interests. This technically might be the same as being a ‘world cop’, but the reasons are different.

I remember in Navy boot camp classes, we were told that the US needs 80+ raw materials/minerals that are not found in the US. Our job then was to keep the sea lanes open for commerce.

This was boot camp during the Carter Administration!

My earliest memory of the Reagan Adminstration’s impact on the Navy? We got a lecture on how we needed to forgo pay increases.

To be honest, I was all for that. I was single at the time, and living on the ship…er barge, the ship was in dry-dock at the time.

But I digress; no, the USA should NOT be a global cop. I’d be very happy, however, if the USA would defend/promote USA interests.

Was denken Sie? (now I’ve done it; showed how little the German classes stuck with me!)

  2. Not fair for me to comment as I believe the US has the moral right to do to assholes anywhere whatever we want.
Guys like Ron PAul can suck my johnson and pretend we dont need open seas and clear skies but all of you know that without our presence the world would be a flaming pile of dog droppings 24/7/365.
Feel free to disagree, even the founders did that much, right up until Tripoli,,,,,,,,

  3. Yeah I’m with all of you on this one! What’s the diff between Iraq & Libya? Oh yes, I forgot - this is a Democrat President - so of course this is different - helping the little guy blah, blah, blah. [As an aside, how many resolutions are in the UN against Libya for violating oh say, surrender conditions? Just askin’ as that might, just might be a difference too]

And yes Rich - Until the foaming at the mouth libtards stop sending (and demanding) that billions get sent to every 3rd world cesspool for every single dying child and pathetic famine (and never, ever gets to said child/famine relief) - Stop telling us that we can’t be the World Police. And what they are asking is impossible - 1)historically, look at what Isolationism got us and 2) they have tied every single economy to almost every single nation in the World - thus intervention is always in our favor - at least economically speaking.

The history of the World is poverty, tyranny and violence - Some one has to be the adult, someone has to put their foot down on right and wrong, someone has to see that food for oil doesn’t go into some despots pocket - and it seems in the scheme of the world for the past 234 years that has been America. Now it just seems we are going it with fewer and fewer countries willing to stand up and DO THE RIGHT THING along side of us.

In reality - the lunatic has already won - why in the hell should we get involved NOW? Talk about closing the door after the barn is on fire. But then that seems to be the entire position/action of this regime here in the US - being enabled by a GOP bound and determined to be lead by the old geezer who didn’t step up 16 years ago - fool me once shame on you - fool me twice - shame on me. Not happening again.

And thus as we are supposedly about to pull our Troops out of the areas - gearing up for sending them back - into a situation/country that makes less sense than either of the two that this very Man-child claimed were wrong. So typical of the Dems - when the shit goes bad for them - lets just start a war or bomb someone to be able to say - LOOK, over there - We Did Something!

In retrospect - I’m going to have to VOTE NO on this - let that part of the World go to hell - then when we elect an adult - we can just bomb ‘em back to the actual 3rd century and be done with ‘em.
