  2. Because they believe the pandering lies the media feeds them? Idiots.

This week has raised by cynicism by several notches. The Great American Experiment has failed; freedom and decency can only flourish in a population of moral and generous people. Nor can freedom be simply given to a people; it must arise through educated reason and then be earned in blood. History has shown that every group rescued from tyranny or bondage will quickly fall into another form of either tyranny or bondage; they simple can not conceive of a different way of living. John Calvin was an optimist; it is not that Man was born in sin and is capable of achieving Grace, but that Man was born in Sin and is almost incapable of achieving Grace without the combination of his own and society’s extraordinary efforts. Lot moved out; look what happened to Soddom.

No matter what you call it, when you remove a dictator from a population that is only half a step above barbarism, another dictator or a tyrannic philosophy will almost instantly arise. Theocratic despotism is the very worst form of tyranny, because it allows any and every form of cruelty and repression, “because God wills it”. The next worst form of tyranny is the beneficent oligopoly; an elitist government that drowns the populace in laws “for their own good” while they live like amoral gods.

The chains that slaves forge themselves and wear with pride are impossible to break.
