AMEN
And thanks to all who left beautiful messages on my USMC Birthday topic. Including Stinkerr for the Pearly Gates link.
Veterans Day is to honor all who served, including my buddy who was “Swimming Pool Officer” in the Army—he’s a Vet too. Military service is normally long, hard, boring preparation for something that never happens. Along with chickenshit while stationed in BFN Indiana.
Happy Veterans Day
My Dad spent tooo many years fighting his so-called Japs.
He said, “Japs were BrainWashed into INSANITY.”
The proudest day of my life was the day “Taps” was played for him.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
Many Thanks from a greatful Nation!
Great banner, Skipper!
Would that such closet pinko sites as Google, which happily alters its page design to commemorate other holidays, could find it in themselves to celebrate the guarantors or their freedom.
Marty: Gooogle is tooo busy censorin’ the Chinese word for FREEDOM.
To those who came before me, I salute you!!!
This Veterans Day has me holding down the fort while Jason works (it’s his duty weekend, which means long hours both today and tomorrow. Sunday work prolly isn’t out of the question either)
We’re also anxiously awaiting results from E-5 exams *Crosses fingers and toes* and the announcement of departure date for 6 month deployment.
We honor those who came before us, like Jason’s grandpa, who still has his Army passport photo from 1942. He showed it to us in August when we went home for pre-deployment leave and said, “I don’t know why I needed a passport to get into North Africa...Goddamn Germans didn’t need one.”
God bless ya, Papaw. God bless all of our Veterans, today and always.
Yes, Severa. Thanks Grandpa, passport or no.
In the 1950’s a British Airways pilot was asking for some clarification as to which runway he should use landing at Frankfort, Germany. The young air traffic controler was impatient,
“Have you never flown to Frankfort, then?”
“More than once Old Chap! But I never landed.”
I thank my Dad, who served stateside in a bunker at Misquamicut, R.I. and on Fishers Island, N.Y...............I also thank my former husband’s father, who lost his life in the Battle of the Bulge..........we were most fortunate to visit his grave in the Hamm Cemetary back in 1993...........it was a most humbling experience to visit the Hamm Cemetary...........General George Patton is also buried here - his plot at the head of the cemetary is “off center’ and his wife refused to allow the movement of his plot (or so the story goes)- this was told to us by the Director of the cemetary..............It is interesting to note that the citizens of Luxembourg have “adopted” the burial sites & provide memorials to the gravesites............As I previously said, there are many stories to be told & they are not being told - such a loss to history..........
