  1. *applauds OCM’s take on Bolton* Couldn’t have worded it better myself.

Watching the base closings list...looks like our current home NAS Brunswick is due to be “realigned”...whatever that means…

But the one name on the list I don’t quite get is NSB New London. Nerve center of the US submarine fleet. Bet ol Hymie G Rickover’s spinning in his grave on this one…

  2. I was in Ticonderoga, NY on an occasion when the wind shifted and brought the noxious smell of their pulp mill my way. I almost lost my stomach contents on the street. A nearby air conditioned drug store was my salvation. Years later I had the pleasure of returning and noting that the pulp mill had been torn down. WooHoo.

Lott may have the horsepower to save Pascagoula, Thune is a FNG so he has no horsepower. There’s gonna be a lot of fights on “The Hill” over every one of these closure candidates anyway. Were there any other expectations?

Many communities have turned closed bases into local economic booms by turning them into enterprise areas with industrial parks, airports and new residential areas. All it takes is imagination, hard work and the right attitude.

  3. My commute from home to the University of Louisville took me past both a landfill and a Purina plant. Not as bad as sulfur but their combined stenches on hot days could pack quite a punch.

  4. So, Bolton is Billy Goat Gruff?  Big fucking deal.  He sounds like the perfect man for that job.

Cap’n, does your hiney need some balm?
