  1. If your wife is reapplying for a green card you may not be able to do this at Shannon. If I were you I would fly Virgin if you are planning on flying. Assuming they cover a destination that suits you. Having flown most of the US airlines and BA I would never fly with an American carrier again and BA is just too risky with the commie punk unions dictating terms. Virgin is the only way to go.

  2. Lyndon, thanks very much.

Wife has a green card. She isn’t planning on reapplying but we thought we’d fill out that visa waiver and only stay 2 months. Which is all we really need at the moment. This house isn’t gonna be put on the market right away, unless we find something stateside we can move into. But you know what selling homes here in the UK is like.

ESTA is a new Internet-based automated system developed to enhance the security of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).  ESTA will verify an individual`s eligibility to travel to the United States without a visa and determine if an individual poses a security risk.

Shouldn’t be a problem I hope. Truth to tell, I still like the idea of a ship. If I could, I’d live on one.

Surprised re. Virgin as we’ve read a few complaints about it. The review I wrote about though was really interesting and whoever wrote it gave BA high marks only on that particular flight.  But as you say, and correctly, the damn union is going to make life hell. We hadn’t even considered BA till we saw the article.

Anyway, will look into Virgin as you suggest but I still think boat the best.
Hey, I wonder if Singapore Airlines flys London to LA. They’re supposed to be very good too.

  3. Singapore is considered a step up from Virgin. It has been a couple of years since I last flew with Virgin but I was always well treated. I can’t say the same for Northworstern, AA, TWA or any US carrier I have had the misfortune to fly with. BA the last time we used them were really good but it is a risk you take. Going by cruise ship would be great but expensive I imagine. As for the article it isn’t shocking. A couple of years back we used one of the long term car parks at Heathrow. They are a couple of miles outside the airport. Driving through these places is like driving through downtown Karachi or some other turd world hell hole. The only people who live in the vicinity of the airport seems to be immigrants and the majority of the people working at the airport are turd worlders.

  4. We flew Air Transat I dont know if they go near where you need to go but they are well run and reasonable rates.
