  1. I’m sure I’m not alone. When I was a kid in school, not only did the teacher/principal use the ‘board of education’ on me while at school, I got it again from Mom and Dad when I got home.

    That I could live with.

But Mom and Dad grounded me, which meant I couldn’t go on the Boy Scout campout.

I was the platoon leader. Sad when your platoon leader is grounded. Sends a bad message...or does it?

I never did ‘that’ again. Next campout, the platoon leader (me) was there!

  2. In my ‘day’ (2nd grade) they were called ‘Ma’am’. And she hit you with a ruler for anything. HARD! (Sorry, Ma’am. I’ll clean those easures STAT!)

Back then it was called ‘loco parentis’ or some such thing. The schools were actually to act AS the parents, not question their authority. Ditto when I hit college. But when I hit college, I was a minority, parents/grandpa were financing me, not the gov’t.
