  1. > The Taliban had occupied the area for several months imposing “their version of
    > law and order” on the locals

    *swats the Defense Correspondent* TOO SUBTLE.  Try:  Imposing control only by threat of torture or death against the locals.  They have no “law and order”, don’t even TRY to sully those concepts by what they are.

    > and murdering anyone who supported the Afghan government, according to the
    > Ministry of Defence.

    Not a bad recovery, but next time, call it straight up.  Don’t soft-peddle it.  This is NOT a time for British Subtlety, but rather American Brashness (says the outspoken and annoyed Canadian) wink

    With that out of the way:  TALIBAN OUTPOST DESTROYED!  OORAH!!  *does a happy dance*

    > “The search skills and patience of the ANA, coupled with the expertise of
    > British Bomb Disposal Teams undoubtedly contributed to the low casualty rate
    > amongst locals and the coalition forces during this operation.”

    Well done, folks.  Well done.

  2. How about we try to second guess the british press version of this??  :- “upright citizens brutally murdered by empire and government mercenry forces whilst peacfully educating local backward tribes in fine etiquette” ??

  4. Doesn’t the concept of fair and balanced mean that you’ve got to report the good as well as the bad?  I guess that just doesn’t apply in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.  btw - I did a search on CNN and there wasn’t a word about it.

    The results began with:

    Afghanistan withdrawals delayed

    Two soldiers killed while disabling bomb in Afghanistan

    and third;

    Obama Team works to define U.S. strategy in Afghanistan

    To the bottom of the page, there was no mention at all of any success, except the enemy’s.  None.
