Taken With A Grain Of Salt

  1. Cooking - my thing. I don’t do many internet recipes. My hubby does. And I find that the ‘famous’ chefs either do something great (can’t wait to do it again) or yucky, how did they come up with that. So even that is hit and miss - which is one reason that I have about 35 cookbooks. Did I mention that I love food and cooking?

The Old Better Home and Gardens (black and red check) cookbook is awesome - has an everyday cake and everyday coffee cake - with stuff just about every home cook has in the house already. Not sure about the new one - I got it for the youngest daughter when she was living in an apartment (how I can dream, that might happen again). The cornbread recipe is also awesome.

I cheat on most fish - buy the box stuff - simply because I am so lazy by Friday - I couldn’t care less.

However - Jeffery Zakarian has an great little recipe for salmon (which I never buy boxed). Butter, salt, pepper, pesto and more butter. And I am not a big pesto fan - but this was great and easy too.

I bought this bread cookbook - a Sams/Walmart promo deal - that had absolutely drool worthy pictures of bread and sandwiches. Sad to say that the one I did - had no real taste to it at all.

Since we have odd allergies and a daughter with a strange taste/smell gene - it is all hit and miss with us anyway.

Now we are struggling to find a place to eat/carry-out for Monday. It’s my (shh) b-day - and I really don’t want to cook. But with 4 people who can’t agree on a place/menu - it is a chore to even decide.

And Friday the 13th started off great - the coffee pot blew up.

I think I’ll just crawl back in bed.
