System Breakdown

  1. Sad to say, I am Cho’s parents (sort of) - we have a son like Cho. Thanks to the ‘mental illness’ laws we may never know what set it off (drugs, psychotic break, love relationship, bullying, stress, mental illness - whatever). Our son turned his pain/anger inwards and attempted suicide - not a mass killing spree.

And for that, even though the past few years have been terribly hard on us and our son is permenantly disabled - we (he and us, his parents) do not have the deaths of others on our hearts. And we Thank God every day for that blessing.

Why this happened - I still don’t know. I do know we managed to raise 3 other children with success. So I suspect our part in this event was minimal. Did we miss something - quite possible, but you know what - I don’t think so. All the key ‘warning’ signs - weren’t there. We were blindsided, not completely clueless - but A + B does not always equal C, in this case it equaled D. How were we to know?

‘If’ is such a pie-in-the-sky piece of fantasy fluff crap idea. The causes are not known - or we would be able to cure it. Or jump on it in time to do something. Heck the medical professionals are still arguing the nature vs nurture in child issues. And today’s liberals really don’t want to even get to the real causes - they prefer to work on ginning up the fear and taking aim at two of their favorite agenda items - gun control and violence in America.

And sad to say, yes Skipper - once again, we will listen (ad nauseum) to the drivel spouted 24/7 on tv as liberal ‘experts’ hash and re-hash the key social agenda issues of this tragedy without addressing the true causes. They will overblow and overhype this tragedy without the proper perspective (2998 people died within 2 hours on September 11, 2001 - but hey let’s not remember that unless it is to beat up the Bush Administration). . . And the next big story will knock this one off. So while Imus was a non-story, he knocked off Anna Nichole and now he’s been knocked off by the VT tragedy. And so it goes.

Meanwhile, the good news is that the young Marine I’ve been praying for (CPL David Emery) appears to have finally started to recover from his destating injuries.

At the VT tragedy (04/16/07), Professor Liviu Lebrescu threw himself in front of the shooter, so that ‘his’ students could escape - they all survived, he did not. In Iraq (02/07/07)SGM Joseph Ellis (23 years as a Marine) stepped between ‘his’ Marines and a suicide bomber, they all survived, he did not.

These are the people who make America great - and these are the stories the media should be doing 24/7 and that they chose not too is part of the problem with America culture today.

  2. "Lethal-looking assault rifles”? What, that Glock in the shopowner’s hand, the shotguns and rifles on the wall, even the .22 target pistols don’t look lethal?

  3. How is it that a non-citizen is allowed to buy guns, any guns, at all? How could the instant background check thingy fail to spot that ... better yet, the article above says this guy handed the gun store clerk his alien ID. Did I miss out on something? WTF? Foreigners of any kind should not be allowed to buy, own, or possess guns in this country, period. Ok, maybe we can let tourist hunters in with theirs, but they had better have the required hunting licenses with them at the gate. If you give aliens all the rights of citizens, what’s the point of them becoming citizens at all?
