  1. I’d have checked it out, just to be sure my name wasn’t listed as a threaten-ee.

This kids thought the WWW was kind of like their Doctor’s Office? ... The Confessional?
Ooops! I see my mistake—that word ”thought”.

  2. Man, great minds think alike - I wondered immediately if ‘TeWinkle’ was after someone (I’d seriously change my name) or a place (and why name it such a silly name).

And I agree, NFB . . . if this was on school computers - well maybe a detention but after school. Stay away from my computer and my home.

Having a child who was suspended (after Columbine) for a verbal threat - I understand the issue facing school systems these days - especially since the Skippers method can no longer be used - however, cooler heads must prevail.  I fought for in-school detention, because I’ve always thought suspension was seen not as a punishment to kids but a vacation from school. I got off my son’s case the next day when they suspended 32 kids - then had to void all the suspensions when the parents said, enough.

I agree Oink, thought being the operative word and obviously in CA little is done by those running things out there.

  3. I agree with the Skipper on this one. I’m all for bringing back the good old-fashioned beatings.

    banghead

  4. a. Any parent who lets their kid post ANYTHING to myspace.com needs to have their head examined. I don’t even have children, but have read enough about the myspace phenom to know it’s a breeding ground for problems.

b.While I think the kid who had the website needs to be punished( where in the name of heaven are PARENTS these days???)I can see a school policy concerning such behavior as his..yes, i would think posting about wanting to “blow someones head off” could be taken as hate filled/threatening....

c.however, for “viewing” the website? I don’t think it is the schools place to discipline the student- IF it happened off school grounds, off school time.I could see the school notifying the PARENT. NOW, if the student who viewed it POSTED a COMMENT- that is a whole ‘nother ballgame.

    d. And again I ask....where are the PARENTS ?? Where is parental responsibility? In most cases,it seems negligent at best.

    heart

  5. Inciting murder in high school, even as a ‘joke’, doesn’t come under Free Speech for me.

What’s with you people? I take a nap (not feeling so good) an have 29! comments waiting for me.

    grin What Fun!  LOL

  6. Oink, S\sorry you aren’t feeling good today, hope you didn’t catch what I had.

    ‘did you take his temperature?’
    ‘what’s a pig’s normal temperature?’
‘I don’t know, you take it.’
    ‘No, you take it.’

Sorry, I digress [lines from a tv show I enjoy].

I agree Freedom of Speech should not advocate nor encourage attacking or killing anyone. But there is a difference between ‘oh I could just kill him’ and really meaning it. We can’t become so PC that nothing - except ‘nice’ is allowed. What’s that from the movie Demolition Man:
    ‘Be Happy’ Gag me, pleeeeeeze

  7. Can anyone tell me, in FIVE words, how to use a rectal thermometer? .....Dottie???

  8. Oh I shouldn’t have started it, but as soon as you said you weren’t feeling well, I remembered those lines. And they were so appropriate.

BTW, my hubby enjoyed the Photo du jour. I just wish you would balance it out with a nice beefcake one - now and then.

I did enjoy the ‘spoken for’ pun.

    Again I digress.

I do hope that you are feeling better. I know that I’ve conquered what ever nasty I had, as I’ve been up since 0430 and I am still conscious and typing.

    I AM still typing aren’t I????
