2. ha ha, too funny! Help me see around my male blindness and show me where I was pushing at all. No need to be sorry, but I just don’t see it.

   Looking back at it from the perspective of the Day After, what she talked me into doing seems like cheating. So yeah, I’d set it up so that it couldn’t happen again. And that way it wouldn’t be my fault; somebody else would be telling her no, not me.

3. Remember me? The guy with the advice on handicaps? I can’t resist donating my two cents, here.

   If I had been the league secretary, I’d have said, “I’m sorry, but you have pre-bowled your games for tonight’s match. You can’t come in now, bowl the match, and designate those other games for another match. If you want to practice on another pair, go ahead. I’ll even approve bowling against your scheduled opponents as pacers, if you like, with the understanding that the games you bowl tonight don’t count. If you want to prebowl for next week, I’ll allow that. But those pre-bowled games count for tonight, period.”

   I would also let you know that you could appeal that ruling to the league’s Board of Directors. I would expect to be upheld.

   Another point: I’ve seen a lot of bad consequences when people “assume” they can just pre-bowl when they want. The correct procedure is to start by approaching the opponents for the week that you will miss, explain the situation to them, and look for a mutually agreeable time and date for both teams to bowl the make-up. Your opponents deserve the courtesy of the choice to bowl against you face-to-face. Granted, it appears that such an arrangement is unlikely in your (or your wife’s) circumstances, but the attempt should be made.
