Stupidity Award

 

1. Not simple stupidity. You have just been treated to a brief lesson in addictive behavior.  ALCOHOLIC variety.

   We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable.

4. Not only is he addicted, but he has no repentance for his behavior.  I doubt thirty days will be enough to sober him for life.  If he joins AA immediately upon leaving treatment there’s hope for him, otherwise he needs six months to think it over.  And he must pay restitution to his victim.

5. All that Antabuse does is make you ill if you drink alcohol.  Or sometimes use shaving lotion.

   Valium is useful in detox.  People can easily die in detox if unmedicated.

   P.S. I’m not an alcoholic. I learned a lot about it as a VA Social Worker. It’s the VA’s main ‘secondary’ diagnosis, i.e. the diagnosis in addition to the one that brought you to the hospital. Anyone surprised?
