  1. Seems reasonable that if WE (gov’t) are rebuilding, We the People should have a say in how and where things are built.  The societal leeches would be MUCH less interested if we were throwing up a ton of no-frills low-income boxes/housing that you could take or leave, rather than a bunch of money to do with as you will.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a Sunday School chorus singing this song in their heads now?!?!?!

  2. The politicians who fund these idiotic rebuilding plans couldn’t care less about what “We the People” think, Becca. All they care about is buying the votes of the people who they dump our money upon.

  3. And then there’s the REALLY foolish man whose taxes are taken to be given to the fool who wants to build new housing below sea level.  Hey, that’s ME!

  4. I could make the decision, OCM.  It isn’t safe to rebuild, unless it involves stilts!  cheese  Of course, it wasn’t the gov’t property that was destroyed (most generally) it was privately held, so the decision to rebuild should be in the hands of those that own the property.  Right?!  Oh wait...no one had any insurance so we have to do it.

You’re right, Jester.  I have just been wearing my pissy panties lately and getting grouchy about all of this garbage.  Usually I try to be more laid back.

  5. Becca: Don’t feel bad. My post was pretty pissy as well. I can’t help but get sucked into the negativity of it all. But a quick ride on my new bike a couple of hours ago nipped that in the bud real quick!

  6. Now living in the country (as do I) you realize that you can put a house anywhere.  You don’t need the services to put it there.  You can actually bring the services to the house.  Whether or not that would be cost effective would be another thing Old Kitty Kat.  Though, I kinda suspect that if enough folks built their houses there that somehow, someone would find a way to make a buck by providing services to them.

Besides, I think a lot of the greenies would be happy if they built sort of an electicalless, phoneless, WalMartless utopia down there with stilts as far as the eye could see.  That is kinda what they had there the days right after the hurricane and it was certainly a sight to behold.

Anyway, I cede your point to you that it would be tougher to live there without easy and cheap electricity, water, sewer, etc. but not impossible.  People can make their own decision and not be completely dependant on the govt to make their next move.  That is all I am saying.

Besides, it might be BETTER down there without Milkshake Nagin running the joint! (pun intended just for you my feline friend)

Cool bike, Jester!  And I am glad you are feeling better! But, I just can’t see that working for me.  Oink might have a suggestion for me on how to relax a little, but you have to watch out him.  His intentions aren’t always honorable.  tongue laugh
