"later found bleeding in an area between two houses” - the grammar isn’t too good - is this code for “he was shot in the crouch”?
The incident happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, when Jumper attempted to break down the front door, then picked up a bicycle to smash the window, police said.
Shhh.... Darwin at work - Do Not Disturb!
No the end conclusion to this story (American style) is that Jumper will sue the family of the 15 yo - usually it is for ‘loss of ability to do my career’ - which the fact that lawyers and judges allow this garbage to even get into a courtroom, shows how stupid and useless most systems in America have become.
10 people in the house and it was a 15 yo that had the backbone to deal with the situation. Of course that makes one wonder as to why 911 wasn’t called until AFTER the shooting - wonder if some of those previous ‘events’ listed on Jumper’s ‘long rap sheet’ had been against someone in this family?
If the law won’t take care of criminals, sometimes the people have to deal with them - notice how the PC winnie police gave it a nasty name. Never mind the furthermore, it use to be self defence - nowdays its vigilantism.

Yep, so they say anyway. The police will tell you themselves that they aren’t there to protectyou, just to make an arrest after the fact.
I’ve got long odds that if this happened in the other Hollywood (Mexifornia) the teen would be in custody facing a aft of charges, unless he is a protected minority like McKinney or Hussain.
Makes me wonder sometimes just which is the more ignorant of the two. One for not calling 911 while the break in is occuring so that they have some kind of record of the event or the dumbass that thought this was an easy target to rob? as someone else said ,Darwin in action.
I’d like to know the calibre of firearm the young man used. For him to inflict several wounds, none of the life threatening bespeaks a small calibre or poor aim. That SOB should have been DRT.

...or more probably of EXTREMELY high stress level - which is what I would be sufferring from if I ever leveled a firearm at a violent intruder at 3 AM. This could also explain why nobody called 911 sonner than they did. Unless you have some sort of training that you can into autopilot on in the event of a violent intrusion, you are likely to be gripped in a combination of fear, disbelief and indecision.
The kid gets a huge gold star and A+ from this armchair commando.
