  1. Jeeze ... 15 degrees in NJ?  Can’t be.

    OK, on topic. Oberman.

Should we be happy about that?  Yeah, I think he was over the top a lot and frankly, I mostly avoided his show when visiting home. I would tune in for a minute or two to see what he was covering but just couldn’t stick with it. I think he exaggerated a lot but guess what.
So did the other broadcaster with an ‘O’ as in, O’Reilly. We would watch his Talking Points at the beginning of the broadcast but just couldn’t handle his pompousness after that.
The thing is, I would not want to have Rush off the air for example (Or Mr.O as he calls himself). So I shouldn’t want Oberman off the air either, just because I don’t agree with anything he says or stands for. Most of that channel’s lineup is crap, for all his faults Oberman is not stupid by any means. He’s articulate, clever, manipulative and any of another number of things. Better for our side to be arguing with someone smart then an easy pushover.
I have a huge problem with Bill Maher too btw.  He has great talent, he can be very funny doing social commentary as he used to do.  But like many others, he twists events and statements made by ppl he doesn’t agree with to prove his POVs.
I wouldn’t want him off the air either. But I think he’s full of it these days. And full og himself too.

Unless my memory isn’t serving me well, when Oberman first came to the network he wasn’t as bad as he became. I think his head became filled with himself and it showed.

Damn thin skinned bleeding heart libtards calling for the demise of Rush and Beck and other on air Cons, heck. We should be doing the very opposite to show what hypocrites the left are and never cheer (too loudly) when a liberal voice is silenced.

(there are exceptions of course. quite honestly I was very pleased when Ca. judge Rose Bird quit breathing, and Wm. Kunstler too. I didn’t mind those lib. voices silenced except that is wasn’t soon enough)

  2. When Keithy baby first came to the network he was doing sports reporting.

I don’t think he was fired for what he said. I think he was canned because his ratings were below floor level. News shows are supposed to turn a profit these days.

D’Oh-Reilly is often a pompous windbag. He tries to stand in the middle of the road no matter what, and shoots his mouth off without enough facts all the time. Still, he is entertaining, and because he’s firmly in the middle I agree with him exactly half the time.

  3. Drew… don’t ya just grind your teeth every time Mr O says to a guest, “I’ll give you the last word” and then proceeds to cut them off before they’ve even started?
That used to drive me nuts. Sometimes I think he played to the civil rights left though.
And he was correct I recall when he said that people are being rewarded for bad behavior.

There are some interesting interview programs here, one I like a lot on Wed. nights is the Moral Maze. Anyway ... sometimes you suddenly find three or more ppl all talking over each other and that’s when I switch off.

  4. I don’t watch much of any of them - can’t take even the ‘news’ for a half hour - they all from local to the biggies have turned it into entertainment. The problem is given any event - one side turns it into a political side show and the other side ends up being dragged into defending itself.

That is not news, that is not right and it does influence people who have no real clue (nor desire to learn) to believe crappola as ‘truth.’

Should any of them be thrown off the air - and their ‘views’ muzzled - Not at all ever. However, that until Stations are public property - they have the right to fire anyone for any reason and secondly - ratings are king - and these morons (as Air America proved and MSNBC is proving) don’t draw the crowd a good fight at a basketball game would draw.

Thus the bottom line has always been and will always be in a free and open society - What sells and makes money - is the winner.

And that hasn’t been Olbermann for a long, long time.
