In my World History classes today, I explain the Battle of the Alamo and the history behind the Anglo settlement of Texas.
I demonstrate that Mexico had lost control of its immigration policies and that Rednecks from the southern US were doing jobs that Mexicans didn’t want to do, i.e. settling and developing empty territory and fighting fierce Commanche Indians.

maj, this sounds bad but, it wernt a job it was i.e survial, and it was the commanches land, maybe Brits v dagos, oh ok pligrims v dagos sounds better than red necks.
I’ve got to modernize my cussing like Bdog. Here, I’ve spent my whole life thinking that dagos are from some boot shaped penninsula in the Med. Now he spells it “daygos” and suddenly they’re from Mexico? So confusing.
Now I’m sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out why we’ll miss England as he says. Can’t be the Minis; they’re made by BMW these days. Can’t be the tele; PBS has all their good shows. Ford owns Jaguar - two losers for the price of one! We’ll always have the canucks and the aussies for funny accents. What’s left, Prince Charlie and his UFOs?

Hey Major, I hope you included all those land purchases in that lecture, along with the treaties of Velasco and Guadalupe Hidalgo. Seems to me we’ve BOUGHT those Aztlan lands at least a couple of times now. Reconquista? Not quite sure what is going on here . . .but back to the original point. Michelle Malkin posted a blog on sending a brick to your representative - make a point. And thank goodness for great American capitalism, there is now a site to do it for you [my brick was in my backyard, washed it, printed - If you build it, they will NOT come - on it and wrapped and mailed it - $8.50] For those who don’t have a few piles of bricks in their back yard.
Rush mentioned an article or study done on just how damaging (financially) to America, illegal immigration is. It will be posted tomorrow - the numbers were staggering, but here is the one that pissed me off - they can claim children left in Mexico for their Earned Income Child Credit. That is such crap. They must go and go quickly.
I mowed my lawn, pruned a few limbs, took my agression out on a flower bed from hell [I really should just dig the plants out, but it gives me a safe diversion now and then].

The best reason to celebrate today is that its Friday!! On a lesser note, one of my students withdrew and went back to Mexico today too. I’d say I’d miss her, but she was a do-nothing for her entire tenure, did nothing interesting or memorable and as far as I could tell didn’t speak Spanish much better than she spoke Ingles.
