  1. I read a ‘new’ book too (2010) by a local (OH) author - A Bones style ‘true’ crime mystery. Trail of Blood - tied a 1930s Cleveland serial murder (the Butcher of Kingsberry Row) to the present. Had a touch of trouble getting into it, as it was utter copy of Bones background (ex hubby, daughter, forensic working with cops, yada, yada, yada) but it was a well done story. And it taught me a bit of history I did not know - Eliot Ness came to Cleveland to clean out the corruption - and stayed (actually ran for Mayor). So all in all a good book - might get another one from her - and a new Bones book. Of course I have two on the end table to read - but heck they are ours so they can sit until the depth of winter when I’m bored to death and freezing.

We did T-day in TN - it was a whirlwind trip, interrupted by stopping in our old KY stomping grounds to pick up my d-i-l’s brother & sister. Since her dad died - there’s not many willing to go get them for her - it was on our way. The food was great and we came back with about half of our goodies (damn) - so I’m trying to get the youngest to take them to college with her. The weather was great - cuz now it’s cold and raining (again) - and suppose to get really cold (20s & 30s) this week - which means snow! Yippie.

Can’t do the shopping thing - we will get the kiddos (6 ouch) something but otherwise - it will be a HUGE bust for us this year.

  2. Ah, those driving holidays. Always such fun. I managed to do this one with only 200 miles round trip total.

Thud. Home from one job long enough to eat and get cleaned up, then off to another one for a couple hours. Do a load of laundry after that, get up, lather rinse repeat. It’s good to be working again, but oh my feets be tired! I need to look into steel shank boots or something; standing on ladder rungs all day really does a number on your insoles.

  3. Yeah I wish - Dan has had two problems (back and shoulder - both part of his military disability rating) - this year alone from simple household tasks. So a physical job is definitely out of the question for him. The daughter and I are sending out the seasonal job apps and hoping - as something is better than nothing right now.

I’m no good with a ladder - as I get vertigo. Even basement steps without backs - get my head spinning - the Effel Tower was a real challenge.
