  1. I heard Larry Kudlow suggest on CNBC yesterday afternoon that until sometime in the 20th century the SOTU by the POTUS was simply submitted in writing—and that we should perhaps revert to that.  I think that’s a fair idea.  And I absolutely don’t think the opposition (emphasis on “opposition") should be granted some automatic rebuttal; God knows they (both parties) do more-than-enough yammering in the hallowed (cough!!) halls of congress (which, yes, is the opposite of progress), out on the steps, etc as it is.

  2. It’s sure interesting how men who terrorized Black Americans in the not too distant past have grow in prominence in the Democrat party.  Webb used to drive through Black neighborhoods and pretend to shoot guns at Blacks.  Thing is, when you see a barrel pointing out of a car you have no way telling if its real or not.  He’s going to fit right in with Robert Byrd, George Wallace and Bull Connor.

  3. Webb is indeed a class act.  Perhaps the potential “outing” of his youthful indiscretions is what really caused him to jump ship.  He could not be seen in public as a republican with accusations like that hanging over his head.  As a donk, he is in good company. Maybe he was scouted and recruited in just that manner.....

Somebody will have to take over the KKK robe after Byrd finally drifts off to the great klavern in the sky.

  4. I have an idea to lower health care costs:

If you want insurance, you pay for it. If some or all of the cost of insurance is part of your employee compensation package, then good for you.

If you don’t have insurance, if you get sick you go to the doctor and then pay the bill.

Funny how either of the above has always worked for me, and I’ve never stiffed a doctor or a hospital yet.

Let’s add: If you’re a bum living off the good graces of the rest of society and you get medical treatment for free then you can not sue. Ever. And we track you big time ... you get $2500 in health care per year on a lifetime basis. Which means if you need a $25000 operation this year, you don’t get nothing for the next 10 years.

    **********

All the other topics in the SOTU are BS. We’ve been hearing about “alternate energy” since the early 70s. More than 35 years!! And there is NO coal shale conversion. There are NO new nuke-u-lar reactors, there are very few wind farms, NO tidal generators, NO new dams with hydroelectric turbines, NO solar farms in the southwest, NO new refineries, NO more stringent CAFE standards, etc. Hydrogen fuel cells simply shift the energy source upstream a bit, and you lose some because of poor efficiencies. Hybrid cars handle like death and cost so much more you’ll NEVER get the money back in better MPG. So SOTU should STFU about this already. It’s bogus.

Immigration reform? Bloody easy: there will be NO IMMIGRATION for the next 20 years. NONE, from anywhere. All illegals will be captured and sent home. Any business employing them will be fined $25,000 per illegal. We catch you crossing the Mexi border and you’re not an American ... bang. On the spot execution.

Fix the tax code? Geezuspleezus, wasn’t he yammering on about that in 2000? What did you get done Georgie boy? Nada friggin thing! Here’s an easy fix: eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax. Period. Gone. Bye bye. You got no insurance? Fine ... take $2500 off your taxable income. That’s all you get. Don’t like it? Get a better job with some benes you losers!

  5. Yes, if it weren’t for my first son being born under less than stellar conditions - my first hubby and I would have not ever gotten the credit standing to get going in life (they accepted payments on the bill and wouldn’t even consider reposession). . . no one cared that we had two paid for cars and almost 30g in the bank - we still weren’t credit worthy as lousy college students.

‘a CBS News poll conducted Thursday through Sunday, 28 percent of Americans approve of the way the president is handling his job, and more than twice as many, 64 percent, disapprove’ Now given the Rathergate and forged document fiasco - CBS, there is a stellar organization that has not shown bias in the past 6 years at all. [Newsflash CBS 91 people just isn’t a real poll, especially when it’s done in your offices]

Funny these people never seem to poll me - I support the Troops, the GWOT and am almost 99% with the President. Too bad he feels the need to support illegal amnesty - but I guess returning to Texas he doesn’t think he has a choice.

  6. How about if you get insurance at one company, leave and go to another company and get re-insured that they don’t drop you like a hot potato for ‘pre-existing’ condition?  Made the mistake of doing that and got horribly hosed by a well known insurance company.  Funny thing is that they still take my biweekly premiums and for what?  This smacks of fraud and the feds should persecute (not prosecute) them to the full extent of the law - perhaps under the RICO statutes.
