  1. My thoughts exactly. The Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) were wetting their liberal knickers over this issue. I have no sympathy for this Pakistani scumbag. He is no more British than the Nigerian drug smuggler who was brought back to Britain after she managed to get knocked up in jail. Or the “British Resident” Binyam Mohamed who emigrated to Afghanistan and ended up in Guantanamo.

  2. Lyndon,
Have you seen the Richard Littlejohn column today?  What you said here. He’s also wondering if anyone will now claim the would be bomber is Brit.

    Bolshevik Broadcasting Corp.  Cruel.  lol.

Hey .. we heard from the TV Lic. ppl and wife called and told em we have no TV. Which is the truth. We don’t. Had a hard time giving it away in fact.
Got a letter from them confirming the call but they also say that inspector could stop by here to check we’re telling the truth.  No harm I guess since we are. Your take?

  3. I doubt you are old enough to benefit from the tv tax exemption. I think you have to be over 75 to aaply for it. If they send someone round do not let them in your house. Just tell them to go away and shut the door on them. You have told them you have no tv and that is the end of the matter. What a bloody cheek. The days of BBC tv tax extortion are coming to an end. There is plenty of information on this issue. The problem you have is that you have a broadband connection and a pc. So in theory you could watch tv on the internet. That’s why I wouldn’t let them in and I would give them short shrift on the doorstep. As I say just show them the confirmation letter and tell them to bugger off. Do not get into a conversation with them.

  5. Lyndon, yeah. I do understand your feelings re. the TV ppl. BUT ... since there isn’t anything to see here anyway, cos there is no TV, how can they make a big deal out of a computer. They’d have to go after everyone in the country with a puter.  And my computer doesn’t have a TV card.  If the BBC for an example , makes their stuff available on line, they surely can’t then come to ppl and demand money for that. Can they? Jeesh. What a system.

  6. According to this the current legal position is you don’t need a license for iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2008/01/iplayer_does_not_require_a_tv_1.html
but I wouldn’t let them in on a point of principle. Your word should be good enough for them.
