  1. Nice purchase Drew,

Though I must say, and I’m quoting my wife, ‘gosh, your package is so much bigger without a gun.’

    Just needed saying… grin

  2. Hey, those are loose fitting jeans. For a reason.

  3. Congrats on the new piece.  Don’t forget that a .357 can spew .38 and .38+p also.  My Dan Wesson with the 2” barrel is an arm breaker for my wife, but she can handle the .38’s no problem.  I like the involuntary breaths with a full bore hot load myself.

  4. Very nice my friend. That is one of the things I don’t have that I should get. I’ve got piles of firearms, long and short, but I don’t have a snubbie revolver.

  5. Ah! Lube with this!

  6. Very sweet purchase, Drew.  Enjoy the hell out of it!

  9. Thank you all. I write another post about the tune up process, and then we’ll get some range time in. And that will take some time, as I need to figure out what the hottest range session load I can use in this one is. Oh, it will take the hot loads. But will my hand??

In the GP100, the only load that’s a challenge to shoot off boxes of is the 158gr JFP over a full charge of H110, VV110, or WW296. Anything less is ... almost mundane. Target .38s are almost insultingly boring. pop pop pop pop pop. Eff that. I want FOOOM!! But that pistol weighs 40oz and this one is only 27oz. With smaller, harder grips. hmmm ...

  10. The SP101 has the same problem as the Charter Arms Bulldog when it came out, lo those many moons ago.  .44 Special loads of yore wuz just too dang hot in terms of recoil!

With the .44 Special Bulldog, I found light bullet loads at moderate velocities were more user friendly.  With regular .38 Special snubbies (m36 S&W), I still prefer the 158 grain SWC lead bullets at moderate to upper end velocities.

Thanks again for verifying my guess.  Am I what or good?

  11. Drew:  Hot loads versus what your hand will take in punishment:  I had an idea!  Soft-leather weightlifting gloves.  The leather across the hand’s palm may help with the kick, and this style of gloves leaves the fingers uncovered from middle-joint to tip, so you’d lose no tactile feedback from the trigger.

Might be worth the $10.00 to grab a pair, just to see if it’ll help.

  12. Nice! A lot easier to carry than the Commanders or the .455! I may have to look into getting a Bulldog, if I can find a nice .44. Yes, I do like my high caliber weapons, especially if I only get 5 shots to their 12+, and you know the gangstas like their 9s..

    Just a thought.

  13. DD,

It’s a little different carrying mentality when your satisfied with only 5 or 6 rounds.  It’ really all you ever should need and the revolver pretty much never jams.  Very appealling to some, and I agree with you about the fact that many people carry the high capacity auto’s and the need to have equal parts is a hard drive for most to look that way, which includes myself.
