  1. If only it were as easy as pressing a button....

The problem with the Justice systems today are that they must balance between the rights of the Plaintiff/Victim, and the rights of the Defendant.

Unfortunately, the scale has- in the West- swung vastly too far in the direction of the second. That it is possible to actually DISQUALIFY DAMNING EVIDENCE ON HIGH CRIMES due to improper police procedures- thus making the procedures used more important than objective reality itself- highlights a key problem with the legal system today.

However, we cannot erode the rights of the defendant too much, lest we infringe on their justified rights and the integrity (such as it is) of the legal system. So I propose a compromise: the court is instructed that objective reality is to be considered the overarching decision for the case, with justifications and other potentially extenuating circumstances to be decided on later. That means that, say, if the station’s hothead finds certifiable evidence of planned homicide illegally, the evidence is still admissible, but the hothead must be punished for that. It isn’t perfect, but it is the best way I can think of.

Because with such disgusting miscarriages of justice that we are seeing now, almost anything would be better.
