  3. That’s prolly where he got them. (?) A famous Brit actor named Stanley Holloway used to do Edgar monologs, and Edgar wrote for so many, so there could be a connection.
    See the site for more of the guy.  People really do not write that way anymore. Sure don’t heard it on radio.
