1. That’s like a throwback to the days when ppl went to placed like Bedlam to laugh at the sick. Or freak shows.  Why would anyone want to watch that kind of thing?  What next?  Bear bating?

   Well if they brought back hanging for traitors I think I could be persuaded to see the felons dancing the Tyburn jig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyburn

3. Lyndon, Another thought re. your link.

   I could be very wrong and have never made a study of it but;
   Although I know many ppl viewed public hangings as sport of some kind, or at least ‘entertainment,’ my uneducated guess is that in many cases people went to see justice done.
   They wanted to see a murderer hang and wanted to know he was getting his due. They wanted to know for certain that the criminal element was getting theirs.
