  1. Nice scenario, but some traitorous bastard would leak the story and all Hell would break loose.

The WaPo, the NY Times, CNN, or MSNBC would cravenly play this story in a NY minute.

  2. I’m missing something - what is the advantage of this over cruise missles launched the same way?

  3. They look a whole lot cooler than a cruise missile…

  6. After 50 years, Gerry Anderson scores another bullseye.  uk_flag  cheese  uk_flag

In his SF series “UFO”, One of the main pieces of SHADO’s equipment was a submarine with a detachable nose, which was also an interceptor jet shuttle craft.

  7. This is the next generation of cruise missle.  More flexable, harder to track, more lethal.
As far as the Iranians go, children shouldn’t play with matches.

  10. Some of those “tac nucs” are pretty small, both us and the Russkies have (or had) nuc artillery rounds that fit into a 203 mm (8 inch) round. Friend of mine who had an Army MOS in such matters claimed that these devices, themselves, weren’t a lot bigger than a “Juicy Juice” can. Definitely a LOT heavier, however…

And that was nearly 40 years ago. He wouldn’t say what the yield was, except that it was “significantly lower” than a Hiroshima-class (15-20KT) weapon. I suppose that one of these up close and personal, to one of those Pesky Persian’s nuc sites could still have a rather profound effect… Must have been a hair trigger, donchya know rasberry

  11. While I think this is a neat idea, I don’t ever see it happening, the military has ideas like this submitted all of the time, chunks of money are spent to develop and see if it’s feasible, then it gets shelved or canceled due to prohibitive costs, or lack of feasibility. About 75 percent of military weapon systems/scenarios end up getting canceled due to cost, or non feasibility. Example: The star wars laser missile defense system mounted in the nose of a boeing 747. That technolgy has been around for 20 years -but it is still in development, and will likely end up getting cancelled due to cost. Military programs are most often shelved due to cost- BUT, even if that didn’t happen, the next donk President would shelve the program anyway to support a social program- that is how most of the development programs get shelved. The money always **needs** to be spent elsewhere. rolleyes
