  1. Well handled, Drew.

  2. Well I generally keep my XD out and within reach when I’m at home. The Wife has her S&W 9mm loaded and near her too. When we are at home we are in OUR castle. Something don’t seem right gets a hole in it.

The guy that climbed on to your balcony would have left with a crap stain at best or a hole in him at worst. He should know that’s a stupid move. Knock first? Uh YEAH. Glad it worked out, but what if HE was the guy? You just caught him before he did his business? Perhaps he does a little side work after his real work?

  3. We use broom handles in the tracks. I also drilled a hole through the frame of the sliding door and into the frame of the fixed piece of glass. The hole is at the top and on a slight downward slant. Insert a sturdy nail or rod through both holes to secure. I used a nail, tied a string around the head, and tied it to a small eyebolt I screwed in above the door. The nail dangels from the string when the door is open so it doesn’t get lost.

Not pretty, but effective - kind of like my XD.

  4. That’s a good idea CenTex. I can rig that up in no time at all, and it costs nada.

Bushwack - nah, this guy’s like 117 years old. He’s been toddering around this place for 30 years, doing the odd jobs that need doing. From what I hear, the suspects are some of the local illegals, who got away with stuff piled on their bicycles. Go figure.

And now I’ll see if Resolveā„¢ can get those spots out.

  5. Drew,
you should try a Clip Draw.  More comfortable than any holster and keeps your piece close to the body and concealed better than just about anything else.  I love mine and no one has a clue I’m carrying.

  6. And I agree with AGT, well handled.  Panic never solves situations like that.

  7. I learned that I sort of panic afterwards. I guess that’s OK. I wouldn’t have written about this at all, but it struck me that the whole thing happened on autopilot, and I haven’t done any kind of training in forever. I’ve even had trouble using those rubber loading strips, but this time the cartridges when in like two gears turning against each other just by rolling my wrist.

If NJ ever allows CCW, I’m looking seriously at that little Boberg pistol. It’s half the size of my SP-101 and packs almost as much power, plus 2 more rounds. Pricey, but quality always costs.

  8. Reading all with interest as always and a thought I couldn’t avoid.

The lengths we must go through for better home security these days as just another natural thing to live with.
Jeesh ... I remember a time when we didn’t lock doors, I had an aunt who used to leave her keys in her car ignition, and the locks we had weren’t much either. The old fashioned skeleton key thing. And nobody thought anything of it. Doctors used to make house calls.
Never heard of dead bolts. Cars parked with windows wide open in summer.

  9. I just checked out Boberg arms.  Never heard of them before, and I am not a fan of the 9mm, but I like that pistol!  Cool design.  Might have to rethink my .45 bias.  Though I do love my Glock 30.
