Other BMEWS folks, including The Skipper, have noted that The Gendarmes don’t screw around when it comes to suspects’ rights. They can hold you for a long time without an attorney or anyone knowing where you are. Maybe we get a somewhat slanted view from the French MSM, the same as a foreigner would judging us by the NYTimes. I do not mean that France isn’t in a world of hurt with their Muslim ghettos.

I heard something on the radio recently about this immigration/illegal alien issue. The guy made a very very good point. During the depression the influx of immigrants simply stopped cold. There was no work so the immigrants went elsewhere. Some back to Europe the rest back to Mexico. Well we’ve got a new generation coming along in the under 20 crowd. This is THE Largest population increase in a very long time. It makes the Baby Boom sound like a firecracker next to a daisy-cutter! There will be 100 million of this next generation entering the workforce over the next 5-10 years. They will take all the low paying jobs and they will force the immigrants out of those jobs. When the jobs dry up the immigrants and illegals will go home en-masse. They also will be the first fully computer literate generation and will probably put an end to outsourcing as well. They might even threaten the jobs of the computer illiterate as they will not need the help desk.
I still am behind securing the border, deporting the illegals, and stiffening the penalties for both caught employers and illegals. I don’t want to end up footing the bill for larger prisons to handle all the new alien felons so I would rather see them deported and the employers imprisoned instead. I do not support amnesty in any way shape or form!
