  1. Good pick. Neither TinEye or Google Images returns anything on her. Nor do the other reverse image search engines.

30 years old huh? Hmmm. Big 80s then. Who was that actress on Facts of Life again? Nancy McKeon? Nah, it ain’t her.

  2. Adrianne Barbeau?

  3. Heather Locklear?

  4. Glad you like my pick Drew. I’d like to leave this until this weekend. Don’t suppose you could ‘lock’ at the top until then? I just want to see how many guesses come up.

I’ve already learned something myself. I’d never heard of TinEye before.

As for all the guesses so far, I’ll wait until this weekend.

  5. Looks like Stevie Nix to me.

  6. I figured out how to lock it Drew! Just until Saturday.

  7. Raquel Welsh?

Posted by harleycowboy58    United States   08/03/2011  at  09:23 AM

  8. Gentlemen, please remember that the photo is only thirty years old. I verified the photo with the subject. She was seventeen when the photo was taken. That alone should rule-out almost every suggestion given.

I’ve no doubt that she will be thrilled that you gentlemen thought she was that beautiful.

  9. Well if it isn’t your wife Christopher, who the heck is it because that last answer makes it look like she wasn’t a model or actress, but a private person.

But I guess she has to be someone in the public eye or you wouldn’t have posted it.

No offense but leaving it stuck on top to Saturday seems like a lot. Two days seems sort of okay. Oh well. No harm done.

I was gonna post eye candy but seeing this pix I decided I would have to do a hell of a lot better then the 10 I thought I found.

That can’t be Teri Hatcher, can it? Nah ...

    ru planning any hints?

  10. Cheez Whiz, deja vu all over again. Pretty sure he’s done this to us before, several years ago. And I think Peiper made the same comment then too! LOL

Actually Chris we’re all assuming she’s someone famous, likely famous for her attractiveness; actress or video star. That makes us overlook certain visible imperfections that even this de-colorized picture can’t hide. We aren’t being critical, we’re just being guys (ladies are always so harsh on themselves; we always think you look better than you think you do!) and trying to find a match.

    Guesses from my inbox:

Dan - Jocelyn Wildenstein (the cat lady with all the plastic surgery)

    Jeff H - Sarah Palin

  11. I’m gonna stop keeping it on top. peiper has figured out that she’s not someone famous. Nice photo, don’t you think?

Yeah Drew, I did do something similar, back when the Skipper was still with us.

  12. Geena Davis

Posted by mjdunn9    United States   08/03/2011  at  06:53 PM

  13. At least he gave us a clue: whoever she is, she was born in 1964 or 1963. Start searching!
(Sarah Palin, Courtney Cox, Courtney Love, Lori Loughlin, Sandra Bullock all born in ‘64)

Geena Davis? Wouldn’t she be ... taller?? LOL

  14. Drew ... I made same comment years ago?  I don’t remember.

Christopher .... I don’t get it.  If she isn’t anyone famous, which I take to mean in the public eye, then how would you expect any of us to know who she is? If that’s the case, then what’s the point of the exercise?

Posted by peiper    United Kingdom   08/04/2011  at  07:50 AM

  15. The point, peiper, is that I’m proud of my baby sister.

I was talking to her about this yesterday. She claims that the Geena Davis accusation is common. She’s often mistaken, even now, for Geena Davis.

That is my baby sister. She did some modeling after I’d left for college and the Navy. I’d never seen any of her modeling photos until recently when she was stupid and posted them on her Facebook page. I particularly liked this one because it had that old-time Edwardian feel about it.

You’re correct Drew, born in ‘64.

Sorry folks, I hadn’t seen that photo before. I went all ‘wow’ about it. She got a kick out of it. I pointed her to this page. Mostly garbage, but her husband did enjoy some of the comments.

  16. Like you Chris, I too like the Edwardian look.  Beautiful doesn’t even begin to say it all, in my opinion. You have every reason to be proud BUT ....
I got confused because I thought I was supposed to be looking for someone in the public eye. As did others. That’s cos you led us down that path, which is why I asked what the point was in making folks guess at something that had no reasonable answer.

Posted by peiper    United Kingdom   08/05/2011  at  03:04 AM

  17. I think you assumed things that were never stated, peiper. You should never make assumptions. I never claimed she was famous. I asked a simple question. I just thought her photo had that Edwardian look and ran with it. And it worked! Trust me, if her photo hadn’t had the right look/feel, I wouldn’t have bothered BMEWS.

I still think sis needs a hat. I’m sure peiper will recall when I posted a photo of an Edwardian lady with the proper hat!

  18. And if I put together some bits and pieces and made my own doohicky and posted that as a WhatsIt, people would be rightfully PO’d that they had no chance on earth of figuring out what it was.

The point of guessing games is the guessing. It has to be possible from the picture, text, and assorted clues. That we could figure out what year she was born, and deduce almost instantly one you made the “I asked her and she said” comment that this was not someone famous or even someone with a known web presence shows that we were playing in good faith.
Locking the post on top for several days added to the “importance”; whether as an assumption or not it was emphasis that we ought to be able to come up with an answer. So don’t be surprised if you hear cries of “not fair!” here in the playground.

You could just as easily put up the picture and said “hey, it’s my sister, isn’t she cute?”
and spared us all the effort. Granted some people put in more effort than others.

Now that Google has installed it’s own image search engine, and that it has nearly infinite power, it’s going to be very very difficult to do WhatsIts etc any more. We might be forced to go back to the Skipper’s Lost posts, where he used Google Earth to find some unique view of some airport somewhere. But given the overwhelming power of Google, it could only be a matter of (short) time until they have every image from every angle of every square foot of the world in their system, and a super algorithm that can hash through trillions of trillions of photographs in a blink of an eye to find a match.

  19. You could just as easily put up the picture and said “hey, it’s my sister, isn’t she cute?”

Oh no, Drew. See, I had several people tell her she was Heather Locklear, Stevie Nicks, Geena Davis, etc. If I’d just posted the photo as my baby sister, would I have gotten such interesting comments? Remember that my sister and her husband have enjoyed reading the comments.

But (sigh), sis still won’t register with BMEWS. I tried! Oh, yes, she’s still frequently mistaken for Geena Davis. Sad really, sis is far more attractive than Davis.

  20. I guess I missed the dead giveaway in your original post.

Unless you are a Hollywood type or something you probably couldn’t get hold of any of the guesses above. ;)

Posted by splugy    United States   08/05/2011  at  04:56 PM

  21. Okay folks! Who is this? I’ll just give a small hint:

OK, so not wanting to assume anything not stated .... lets see. Now who could that be?

Since we’re being asked to guess, what assumption can be reasonably made?
    Someone in the public eye?
    Oh, surely not.
Someone famous?  Nah. That’d be an unreasonable assumption. Or would it?
